Some bold reporting there.

I think there's a chance Babcock could get struck by a meteor in the next 24 hours. I'm not saying he will be, but I'm not not saying he will be either.

It is bold considering later in the day this first came out the Blue Jackets put out a statement completely dismissing it, which has a lot of the old school hockey media people to start scolding Bissonette for making this up.

Well he also said they could not fire him, so he's got his bases covered.

But it's still a big shift from where things were a couple of days ago when there was zero chance he was going to get fired.

Member when that lady from the news media here got fired for calling the mayor "bruh" even though she called everyone "bruh."

If I were following a beat, I'd be gun shy too. It ain't right, and I don't like it, but it just is.

My kids call me bruh now too. Especially when I'm telling them to do *poo poo*. Like pick up the *poo poo* in the yard, or pick up the *poo poo* in their room. "Bruh, IM SO TIRED!"

And Babcock is out. He’s resigning.

Whoever hired him should be canned as well.

I wonder when the video tribute will be done. Maybe they can make a collage of the material he exposed on those phones and put it on the jumbotron.

The Blue Jackets GM gets a shocking amount of leeway when the team has been garbage for most of a decade.

I guess (or hope) Këkäläïnën was aware of the gamble behind Babcock's hire. Now that it blew in his face, any non-dysfunctional franchise would sack him as well.

I think seizing everyone's photos and laughing at them in public would make an excellent team bonding experience and Babcock should be lauded

Starting to figure out why DeBoer doesn’t have a Stanley cup here. I mean how much phone seizing and perusing has the guy even done? Step up.

Seems like Babcock rode the end of Lidstrom's career to a Stanley Cup early on in his coaching career and had it reenforced in him that being a monster was the key to winning when the reality is the key was having a roster with a bunch of Hall of Famers on it. Sorta like Hitch.

I was never on board with Babcock being such a great coach. Not quite as a bad as Melrose riding Gretzky but he was carried by a supremely talented lineup in Detroit and when that core started to age out, the success dried up.

I'm 100% certain the Stars could have won the cup with the same roster and Gainey staying as head coach.

I had forgotten how utterly stacked that Babcock Cup winner was. They also won the President's Trophy and had the most insane lineup. I must have tuned out early on that foregone conclusion.

What I most remember is that annoying Ducks team that went to the Finals. God I hated them.

That was 08 when they murdered a pretty loaded Stars team in the conference finals.

Didn't Babs also win when he had Pronger and Niedermayer? Or was that someone else?

His lasting claim to fame will be healthy scratching Modano to prevent him from hitting that career milestone.
