Heiskanen Hype Thread

They'll start to take notice of him after he lifts his fourth consecutive Stanley Cup.

Yes, in PIttsburgh. Before returning at age 35 to sit in the press box after Oleksiak hangs up his suit.ToddM wrote:They'll start to take notice of him after he lifts his fourth consecutive Stanley Cup.

Re: Heiskanen Hype Thread
Neat video showing all of Heiskanen's best shifts against the Sharks the other night. Of all of the skating and stickhandling excellence, the thing that impressed me most was him interrupting his backwards crossovers to break up a pass with his outside skate at 0:55. Everything else on here I could imagine myself pulling off if playing against toddlers, but trying to kick the puck like that would have me smashing the back of my head on the ice.

I dunno. Miro hardly has any Norris Trophies or Stanley Cups.

Nill should have drafted Makar.

7 points in 6 games for the new world champ. Watched a couple of times, he played mainly on the left side where he seemed, o surprise, much more at ease with a much more offensive-driven mindset. He also got a great ability for high-sticking himself and drawing useful penalties.

Makar makes elite plays from the left side all the time.

Re: Heiskanen Hype Thread
I wonder if Heiskanen will take more chances with a new coach and with Klingberg gone. Klingberg was busy trying to be Brett Favre and the system was so boring that there wasn’t a whole lot Heiskanen could do but shrug and play simple.

Re: Heiskanen Hype Thread
I certainly hope he can. I'd love for the problem to be as simple as Bowness holding him back (which doesn't seem to be true when you look at how Klingberg wasn't ever told not to take risks). This tournament is played on a wider rink against inferior talent, so we know those factors can't be duplicated in the NHL.
The main priority of any new coach needs to be getting the full value from Miro's contract. He has to produce more offense. A lot more.

Re: Heiskanen Hype Thread
The head coach of Team Sweden, Gronborg, is an intriguing candidate. His whole philosophy is that you get the most out of your players rather than try to fit them into a single system, and he's done a fairly decent job of that in Sweden. Dunno if that would translate to North America, but it'd be a welcome change from almost three straight decades of coach-imposed defensive systems (minus Ruff).

Re: Heiskanen Hype Thread
I would love for a flexible coach who wants to get the most of his players to come in, survey the dumpster fire of a roster, and conclude that Bonesball is the only system a group this weak is capable of executingToddM wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 6:31 pm The head coach of Team Sweden, Gronborg, is an intriguing candidate. Re: Heiskanen Hype Thread
With Suter unwilling to play on the right side, Miro will be forced to play on this side for the next three seasons at least, which sucks (another side effect of this signing). With Klingberg gone, the goal will be to find a suitable top-4 right-handed Dman.
Grönborg also did a great job in the Swiss league the past three seasons bit I've been told he's some sort of a "special" guy, reaching maybe 7/10 on the official Montgomery scale. But between Green, deBoer and him, I'd go with him.
