He made it through the press release without getting injured, so that's encouraging.

That really seems like something the Stars could have found a way to do.

Not after Nill clogged up the roster with spare part D-men.

The defense got a big downgrade going into next season losing Klingberg and replacing him with warm bodies.

Not included is also 1st in points-per-game with 0.68 (Zubov finished with 0.65).

When you look only at Stars defenders actually hitting 40+ points, it's a pretty crazy list with a couple of "Oh, yeah I forgot about him scoring that much" guys.

Only 27 times in Dallas Stars history has a d-man hit the 40 point mark.
10 times Zubov
6 times Klingberg
4 times Sydor
2 times Boucher
1 time Goligoski, Ledyard, Kevin Hatcher, Robidas, and Cavallini

If you had this as a trivia question, I'd never have remembered Ledyard hitting 40 points.

Ah yes, I remember that one time Robidas had a good season and they spend the next 5 years trying to convince everyone he was #2 and not a #6

This would be almost the opposite of that Robidas thing.

Stars fans trying to convince themselves an amazing player is not actually good as he leaves the team.

We get both sides of the cognitive dissonance.

Enjoy the middle ground: he was great, is still really good, would still be the team’s most productive offensive d-man the next few years, but will probably be bad the last few years of a mega extension.

To be fair, I'd never have remembered Ledyard doing something else than falling on his ass during a game #7 OT.

(ok, and scoring in the first Stars game in Dallas.)

He did. I thought we were talking about the 8 year offer from the Stars he turned down.

That he signed for short term makes me more bitter.

Maybe he will be super motivated too.

Bruins made Langenbrunner their assistant GM, which pretty much guarantees that he’ll be the next Stars GM after Nill :I
