Damn. An entire career of riding the bus in hopes of getting a shot in the show, only to be exiled to Des Moines. I hope nobody gives Oettinger this glimpse into his future.

Nice career for Nisky. I don’t know his injury history Since he left Dallas, but leaving the game before it completely wrecks your body is a wise decision. And if he has been responsible, he has enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Not everyone has to play til they’re 40, especially if you’re not into it anymore.

OR, does he see what a pain in the ass everything is going to be going forward and decided to bail for that reason? Likely salary rollbacks/escrow losses, more bubbles, no fans, masks, etc. Seems like a beating.

I think he's making the right decision. He won a Cup, has gotten well-paid, and is probably feeling the physical beating of years in the NHL.

I've been wondering how many players will hang them up, either retire under contract or not, just because of the safety/cluster going forward. I'd think there would be more than a few.

I was at the practice with the twins when the team gave him the tricked-out Nisky-mobile. Yeah, I feel old.

Easier to post this picture from Razor of the Nicky-mobile than to find my own.

Meh. He was just a warm body out there after that first season. A fast one, I guess. But, we won't miss him.

The overhead lights on the outdoor pond are a pretty awesome touch.

If he could do that, he'd still be in the NHL.

Go check out the 2014 draft. The Stars drafted nine guys, and not one is an NHL player.

That's not as uncommon as you might think. Drafting is a real crapshoot, and you're lucky if 1 or 2 of your guys hit.

For some truly cringe-worthy draft classes, check out the Canucks, Blackhawks, and Avs. I recommend staying away from the Wild entirely unless you have a strong stomach.

Just watched Janmark stoned on a breakaway.

Nostalgic.
