He's been underpaid for a few seasons. Normally, he'd easily get it as a UFA, even though he'll be 29 next season, but he may be the biggest victim of the covid/flat cap crunch.
Good.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Two days ago, Stars media called Nill a genius for trading Dickinson for a pick leaving Seattle with little to pick from.

Today, it looks like what Nill did was cause himself to lose both Dickinson and Oleksiak because of the expansion draft. Genius?

If seattle wanted to buy one Jamie, get a second free, we could probably do that.

Oleksiak is fine, but he was already making like $4m. Not sure he's as good if he's making that sweet Lindell money.

It just sucks that there are now two roster holes to fill, and Nill is probably going to have to spend Oleksiak's money to get a replacement in free agency.

Whose turn is it to make the mystery box joke about the pick we got for Dickinson?

Nah, I'm sure they'll let Harley have the job. Dallas always loves to play young defensemen.

He was playing very well. But he did play with Miro, who makes any player better. Even Lindell. Recall that Miro and Lindell make a pretty nice pair at the start of last season (19-20) when Klingberg was out injured.

It'll be fine when Seattle trades Oleksiak back to us in two years.

I saw something about the league wasn’t going to let Seattle take Price, retain some of his contract, and trade him back to Montreal.

They didn’t.

All of their picks are leaking out right now, so avoid Twitter if you want to enjoy the expansion draft show.

Maybe the Stars sign Suter. I think he'd be good, so long as it's just for a couple years.

Also, Suter was PISSED at being bought out (he hung up on Guerin when Guerin called to tell him), so there's a bit of extra "*f-bomb* you" in signing with the Stars.

And there's a lot of stuff coming out of Minnesota about how shitty Suter was as a teammate, but that could always be the usual stuff floated to justify a move like they did.

Suter isn't old and slow. He's lost a step, but he's still a very good defenseman. You can tell the decline is coming, but he's still got a year or two as a very good middle pair guy.

This expansion show is a step up in production value from most of your generic NHL award show or draft presentations.

ESPN is off to a nice start. They're being super positive about all of the Kraken picks, but the podium banter has been good.

Was really hoping that either Ichiro or Jay Mohr was gonna announce the Oleksiak pick :(
