The Memorial Cup stars Friday. Kamloops' Stankoven had 30 points in 14 games in the postseason, leading in pts/games. Maybe this guy might be good.

I saw someone rationalize on social media about how Stankoven can now join the Stars playoff run and laughed.

It tough. I don't know if he could even crack the lineup in an offensive role what with guys like Seguin and Marchment scoring so much.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

It's not that he won't be up to the task next year. It's just hard to imagine throwing him to the wolves already.

Has that ever been done?

If it has, it is super rare. I can't think of an example.

Knies in Toronto. Brock Faber for Minnesota in the series with the Stars.

Stank is really just a year behind Wyatt, who also averaged 2 points/game in the Memorial Cup playoffs last season. I fully expect Stank to come out of camp with a roster spot and do extremely well all year, before getting passed over in the Calder nominations.

Brett Hull played his first NHL game in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Flames but that was back during the days when goaltenders didn't know how to goaltend.

These are all mid round draft picks, so it's not a surprise none worked out.
