Or Wayne Gretzky. I hear he's not under contract.

And the blolziest part, Modano is no longer the most talented player in franchise history.
Nope, that's now Brendan Morrow.

Just what constitutes "talent" remains to be identified.

Jagr is 40 years old, and he's been a not-great hockey player for a few years now. He did manage to put together 19 goals and 35 assists for the Flyers last year, after a brief Siberian sojourn, but he only scored three goals in his last 20 games. Plus, his teammates in Dallas will be a lot less talented than the gang he had in Philly.

Ah, yes. The old "he sucks now" while being simultaneously butthurt. After we acquired Brad Richards, about a dozen Tampa fans on HF cruised over to tell us how he wasn't really that good. And now that he's gone, we get to do the same. How could Jagr not want to play for the immensely talented Flyers for far less money? What a classless bastard.

We all know that we all would take more money if offered to us. Unless it was Columbus, that is.

Also, Texas has no state tax. I'm not sure about Penn's Woods, but there aren't a lot of states left without a state tax. That's like another 450 grand in his pocket.

This is nothing. You shoulda heard how Pens fans treated him this time last season. It was like he murdered all the babies.

Jagr will be #68.

Also, I've been doing my best not to make Maroon Five jokes here.

Isn't merely saying their name essentially a joke?

I figured he'd wear 9 since he'd be the most talented player in Stars history to wear it.

That just looks both really cool and really weird to me to see his name and number on a Stars jersey.

The black one is on ebay too. Both look official, about 200 bucks for one.

He's a handsome.

I don't know who that guy is, but we should try marketing him or something.

The Stars can only market one future Hall of Famer at a time, so the Benn promotions stay where they are.

Actually, the team featured Loui most prominently in their latest ads, which might be a hint that the team expected not to have the Benn negotiations wrapped up right away.

Maybe the Stars organization doesn't overvalue Benn as much as they pretend to in public.

Regardles, I have a feeling it won't be that long. Been wrong before. I said that about the NHL Lockout too.

I also don't think it can go that long. At the end of the day, the Stars hold all of the cards here. If Benn can't get a Crosby deal, he certainly can get a nice two year deal with minimal fuss.

Benn has no other options. It's not like any team would dare make an offer to Benn. It'll be a while before a team breaks that unwritten rule.

I have to admit, though, I really want him signed. I think it will be really helpful to have him spend some time with some of these veteran stars. The more time the better.

He will either hold out and the fans will turn on him, or the Stars will cave and overpay, and then Benn will fail to live up to expectations, and the fans will turn on him.

I'm fine with either scenario.

Once fans turn on him, I expect you to be his biggest supporter. You must point out that he's still the best player on the team and that they are total dumbasses for wanting to trade him for a Steve Ott calibre player (or whatever).
