Petry is a guy I feel like could have helped the Stars but I also don't feel that strongly about it, so whatever.

I'd prefer they be the pair sitting in the press box, personally.Knives Out wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 1:20 pm Well, in theory I could live with a Süter-Häkänpää duo, if it was the 3rd pairing, and not like, you know, getting heavy minutes.

Who was the most confrontational interview you have ever had over a innocuous/non critical question? — @D_Nasty02
There have been a few, though hockey players are typically a pretty friendly group. James Neal is easily the top choice. Everything was combative. Everything was a fight. Everything was questioned. Once I asked what it was like to be on a power play when your team is protecting a lead, and you’d have thought I insulted a family member.
Craig Adams liked to argue a good bit, and he was really smart, which made it tricky.

Careful there. You're talking about scuba's favorite player.

I wonder what Sydor was like. I've heard nothing but terrible things about that guy over the years.

Rick Jeanneret was the only thing I ever enjoyed about the Sabres.

Was a special broadcaster for sure. His goal calls were some of my favorites.

That’s sort of misleading if you look at Howe’s career in detail. I guess Jagr reminds me the most of the guy who wouldn’t quit the sport.

I mean. Howe took one shift in the 90's with a minor league team and they counted that as a decade. They really stretched it out.The Frugal Gourmet wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 10:09 pm That’s sort of misleading if you look at Howe’s career in detail. Jagr and Chelios are the ones I think of. Both of them were still serviceable players well into their 40's.

Yeah that’s what I mean. And he played in the minors to extend his career.

Good to know that he'll be traded away at the 2028 TDL.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
A kid who grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, was a big Coyotes fan, and was eventually drafted first overall is pretty cool. He needs to return there.
Way more importantly, though, going from Toronto from Phoenix would be hilarious for the fan reactions.

No way any kid anywhere was ever a Phoenix Coyotes fan.

He claimed to be. He was probably just buttering them up because he knows he wants to play there.

He says that stuff to terrify the Leafs and cause them to overpay him.

Sounds to me like the family is preparing to sell one of these teams.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
This is from an interview / Q&A with Bill Daly:
https://theathletic.com/4812956/2023/08 ... bill-daly/Sometimes?Let’s move on to Arizona. I know a topic that seems to be neverending. They came out recently and announced that they have purchased land or are working to purchase land in Mesa that would not require a public referendum and all that, but sometimes with Arizona, you just never know exactly what the future holds and what to believe and things like that.
