Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
I looked into it last season. Wanted to tie it in with a weekend in Sedona maybe.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

We're looking at the back to backs in Jersey and Long Island in January, or maybe in Anaheim and LA later in the season.

If I were doing a weekend in Sedona, I’d be hard pressed to interrupt that for a hockey game.

The weeks leading up to the 2023 NHL Draft in Nashville in June followed that same protocol. However, this year, typically tight-to-the-vest Blues general manager Doug Armstrong made an exception. He allowed team vice presidents Mike Caruso and Trevor Nickerson to work in conjunction with Blue Note Productions, the organization’s in-house video company, and take fans behind the scenes with a draft documentary.

That would’ve been an easy doc for the Stars to make when Army abstained from the draft and traded every pick for like a decade straight.

I'm going to both of Jersey and Long Island games. It's great living in NYC because I can see 3 Dallas road games without traveling.

We did the Rangers game for an away game last season and did the cool Chase Bridge thing. The kids loved it. They quickly voted for NY games again.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
In our quest to attend a game in every NHL city, we are down to:
1. Winnipeg
2. San Jose
3. Nashville
4. Carolina
5. Florida
6. Ottawa
7. Toronto
8. Montreal
Other than the Canadian swing, none of the other five left make for a convenient road trip. I need to look at the schedule and see if the Ott/Tor/Mon trip might be feasible this season.

I've also wanted to do the Ontario-Quebec trifecta, but they always seem to come in January or February.

I always enjoyed visiting other building more when the Stars weren’t the visiting team. With no rooting interest you could just sit back and enjoy the experience. And without the Stars playing, you’d usually see better hockey.

We did Montreal in February and it was very cold, but also insanely cool.

Edmonton in February is kind of a weird fantasy trip of mine. Want to brave the -50 degree wind chill experience to get to the game.
And for some reason the Stars usually have an amazing road trip in Western Canada historically.

I’m told Edmonton and Winnipeg have vast tunnel systems underground so you literally never have to set foot outside during winter

Went last year with a group of 8 morons. Rented a big house. Ate and drank bigly.
Lots of golf. Some of it was stupid expensive.
Brown-bagged shitty gas stations IPAs on the way to Mullet. Fans were *fargin'* loud. Obnoxiously loud. Drowned out any well-meaning Yoters.
We're going again this year with a larger group. Can't wait to hear fans boo Dumba.

Halak is washed now, but is still better than Wedgewood.

Gold and silver medalists by team was easy today, but I lost it at bronze winners. I think Finland had a bronze in there somewhere but I couldn’t think of any finns for the teams available.

I skipped this one. I have zero memories of any Olympic teams.

It's also quite funny to see Petry being sent back to Montréal where he did everything he could to get the *f-bomb* outta there ASAP.

Probably got the promise he'd be traded as soon as they can.

I wouldn't want to play there either. Or Toronto for that matter. Everyone always up your ass about every little mistake you make. No thanks.

Montreal is even worse because they get visibly angry if you don't understand them insulting you in French.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
The Wings get Petry for nothing. His cap hit for the Wings is only $2.3 million.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
Sounds like he wanted to go there because of his old man connection.
Also, retaining 50% on Petry means that the Habs are going to have to ship out another D-man.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
Is it me or Montréal got a bit screwed from the Karlsson deal where they were forced to be the third dancing partner and take Petry back? Now they got two nobodies, a 2nd pick, a conditional fourth and an average goalie while losing Hoffman, Pitlick and retaining half of Petry's salary. Regardless of the cap, I'd have taken Petry at $2.3M AAV and live with Sütër.

Re: 2023 NHL Off-Season Thread
Well, in theory I could live with a Süter-Häkänpää duo, if it was the 3rd pairing, and not like, you know, getting heavy minutes.
