With Pierre-Luc Dubois’ camp indicating that the center does not want to come back next season, one move of note could potentially be made sooner than later. Meanwhile, it appears Connor Hellebuyck could also be in play as Pierre LeBrun, Eric Duhatschek, and Michael Russo of The Athletic report (subscription link) that the ship has sailed on the idea of the goaltender signing a new contract with the Jets.

On top of Dubois, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler are also one year away from unrestricted free agency which means the turnover could come quickly.

Not sure why anyone would play in that dystopian hellhole when they could instead play in hockey mad Florida or Nevada in front of real fans.

I listened to podcast and heard part of an interview with the new Ducks coach Craig Cronan. He's going to be a guy to watch because he has a Boston accent so thick you'd think he's doing a bit.

We need to get him and the new head of the NHLPA (Marty Walsh) slightly sloshed and have them do a podcast. It would be incomprehensible. Like Boston Boomhauer.

Yeah. This might be a bigger off-season of trades than of free agency signings.

I guess I never thought about buyout cap hits work for teams who retained salary. For Arizona, this probably means they are going to have to do some more work to hit the cap floor.

Sucks for the Coyotes. I feel like that's not fair for them.

Maybe they can get the Wings to extend Pavel Datsyuk and then eat that contract again

OEL would fit better in DeBoer's system, but he hasn't been good for several years.

Canes trying to extend Pesce this summer but will trade him if no agreement

Pence would be cheap, his value is at an all time low. You’d have to cut it out with all the pride nights though

Bettman's devotion to that franchise is disgusting. They are purposefully a joke. At least with Columbus or other similar clubs, they try.

They just need to take over Price's contract and they can have a whole line and all positions filled.

It's wild to me that he basically has an office job and pulls *poo poo* like this and people are like "Oh, that's just him being intense." If anyone with an ordinary job did this, they'd be fired and in jail:
The Kings won another Cup under Sutter in 2014. But his methods began to wear on people; he favored biting, condescending comments. More demonstrative outbursts, though rare, were memorable. Justin Williams, who played nearly four years for Sutter in L.A., recalled a game in Minnesota where the Kings played a subpar first period and Sutter began throwing metal chairs out of the coaches office.

“All the assistant coaches start running out of there and another chair comes flying out and he’s just losing his mind,” Williams said in a 2020 podcast. “He kept everyone on their toes, I tell ya.”

I think this story is being a bit overblown. Sutter is an asshole. He's a guy I'd never want to work/play for. But this is being reported with the same tone as some sexually or physically abusive person being exposed.

Yeah, I kinda felt like Babcock got semi-cancelled for being a grumpy old coach of the old school. Of course those guys are assholes.

The only coach I think legitimately deserved to be cancelled was Mike Keenan. I've heard so many horror stories about that guy from so many sources. He's a different level of asshole. Psychopathic is more like it.

Seriously it's probably crazy.

I don’t mind asshole coaches who win. The real sin is being an asshole AND being incompetent. Like the Marc Crawford types.

Bill Stewart was also some kind of psycho in his own style. This this some of the visible part of the iceberg but he made several coaching stints in Switzerland back at the time and really traumatized players.
In 1999, Stewart returned to the OHL to become the head coach of the Barrie Colts. The roster that year included the four "Brampton Boys", one of whom, Ryan Barnes, faced charges of assault with a weapon after a stick-swinging incident during a game in October. Later in the season, three of the team's other players were charged with sexual assault. Finally, Stewart himself made headlines and was banned from entering the United States for twice smuggling a Ukrainian-born player over the Canada-U.S. border in the baggage compartment of the team bus.
Stewart continued his coaching career in Germany, and made headlines during the DEL quarterfinals in 2001 when he was involved in a mass brawl in game three against the Berlin Capitals during which he hit Capitals' head coach Pavel Gross in the head and Stewart was injured as well. He was handed a two-game suspension (...) In the finals against the München Barons, he feigned fainting behind the Adler Mannheim bench to buy his star player Jan Alston time to get his skates sharpened.

Disgusting.
