Oettinger with yet another sub .900 game.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

You nailed it dude. He just didn't care .
It's actually possible given the numerous comments I've heard about the guy over the years.

This one was worse. Oettinger had a puck leak through him. Miller somehow fell down. Just shitty all around.

Biggest difference between this and the previous two series is that our top three lines are barely getting any quality looks imo.

They really shut us down.

One even strength mistake in regulation seems perfectly reasonable.

Or are they just playing a team that's better than them?

Something that happens to every team almost every year.

Unless the Stars can change their play quite a bit, this is over. Just don't seem threatening at on 5v5 and not handling the pick well at all.

Thats kinda of what I was wondering last game. Are they just playing bad or is Vegas making them play bad. I think it was a little of both.

In no way am I comparing this Stars team to the 1999 one but this kind of reminds me of the Western Conference Semifinals. While the Stars won the first two games at home, they lost the next two in St. Louis where they turned over the puck and the Blues capitalized each time in OT.

And they’re not going to get enough PP chances to overcome their 5v5 deficiency.

Yeah. Except this time, they've won zero games. I guess if they can pick up the next two at home, it'll be the same position.

I don't think they're necessarily playing bad.

They have one great line and two lines that are pretty good.

I just think Vegas has a bit more.

But I *hope* they were. Because then we can come back.

I don't get like this anymore for some reason. It disappoints me, but I move on with my day fairly quickly when they lose.

I guess I'm not as rabid a fan as I used to be.

And it not like he’s played poorly. He’s made some outstanding saves. Vegas is getting to the pucks and out working the Stars.

The Domi line today is a great example. They actually had a higher number of shot attempts than the Vegas players they were up against 12-5. You might think 12-5 is a big advantage, but the line only finished with 2 high danger chances and gave up 3.

With two games in a row of that line being outplayed, you’d think we would see some line shuffles, but we won’t.

I don't feel like that as much this year because I don't think this is a Cup roster and they're playing with house money.

I feel more stressed when we are favorites.

Or when we are leading a series.

This is the deepest team we've had in a very long time and they can be fun to watch but I think the defense is mostly dudes, the offense after the first line was mostly dudes until the deadline, and that team speed and persistence checking could be waaaaay better.

That's another one thing that nettles me about focusing on defensive mistakes.

Is there any other team that as frequently leaves an open third man skating into the zone as Dallas? Certainly no team remaining.

These defensemen who mostly are dudes also have a lot of pressure on them. Our forwards get caught a lot.

Honestly it's not that bad for me anymore. Game 6 in the 2011 WS kind of changed my whole perspective on fandom. It destroyed my sports soul. I get all sort on anticipatory anxiety but once it's over I move on quickly.

If they have another OT, they should try going empty net.
They’ve been equal to Vegas otherwise and scored 6on 5 already

I’m not overly worked up. The Stars are on the road here because Vegas finished with a better record, and Vegas did that without having Mark Stone most of the season. The greatest injury adversity the Stars faced all season was losing Wedgewood for a couple of months.

Vegas is a better team. Their one weakness is playing a fourth or fifth string goalie, but they’re good enough to make getting to him very difficult. And unfortunately, the Stars don’t have their goalie playing good enough to make this a goalie duel.

This is actually not a bad suggestion. If Vegas gets possession once, they're going to score anyway. Might as well get a rover out there to try and keep possession.
