RD1 GM6 04/28 @ Minnesota (8:50PM CT) - Bury these whiners

Post by Troy McClure »

The Wild think they’ve done nothing wrong. Their main beat writer is even running around trying to get the league to confirm the Wild are perfect angels.

Good.

Keep playing stupid hockey.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

The Wild are going to be more disciplined, they know they have to, no matter what is being said.

This guy with the Tribune gets it.

Dallas needs to be ready for their push. Stick to the basics, defense.

The Wild doesn't have a choice, they need to start playing hockey instead of hitting indistinctly and retentlessly everything that wears a Star jersey. So yeah, expect a huge tsunami from puck drop. The Star will have to hold back and wait for the sea to retire at some point.

This strategy doesn't work imo. It's not the regular season. The Wild will score first and likely eventually win if the Stars try to outwait them instead of attacking back.

The most hilarious outcome would be a series of obvious blown calls in our favor leading to a 7-0 Dallas win on home ice. I think, over time, Wild fans would learn to appreciate the irony.

Valid point, what I meant here was not to Bowness it, but rather not to rush things and try to capitalize on apertures and counter-attack opportunities because the Wild will try to gain control of the game to score first.

Also, the current sequence of events: An upsetting loss in game #1, A convincing win in game #2, A convincing response loss in game #3, A fortunate ballsy road win in game #4, Another undebatable win in game #5; Smells like 1991 SC final spirit.

I'm expecting a 8-0 Stars win on the road :Winky:

I hope the Stars get an early PP from a bad call and score. The Wild would completely melt down, and the series would be over.

I actually don't understand why our PP is capitalizing so frequently and quickly in this series. It should not be that good.

The key to beating a team that can’t score at even strength is not taking penalties? Big brain analysis from the Tribune

Because when they get a penalty he has to go in the box, effectively giving us one 'extra' guy on the ice.

I mean, most other analyses have been "That wasn't a penalty and the stars *fargin'* dive" so in a vacuum, yes. It's brilliant.

The Stars do dive some. Every team cheats where they can.

I'm a little tired of the narrative making it seem like the only reason the Stars are winning is because the Wild can't stay out of the penalty box. The Stars are obliterating the Wild on faceoffs which, while faceoffs are an overused metric of success, the Stars have been extremely good and their winning of faceoffs has directly led to several goals. They clearly gameplan around it and it's working.

The Stars have completed stifled Kaprizoz and, to a large degree, Boldy. The Stats look like a team that belongs in the driver's seat most periods.

The Wild may be doing all they can to gift the series to the Stars, but the Stars are still capitalizing on what they are being given.

I also think, in a wild turn for the Stars, the Stars are clearly outcoaching the Wild too.

DeBoer basically said that they're using faceoff wins to set up plays at the beginning of power plays, which is also why they're scoring so early in them.

The latest Heika article is intimating Joe Pavelski is quite possible. If so, I hope he’s ready b/c he’ll be targeted.

Obviously he helps, but aye, just pull off a win without him and he’s got a lot more time.

I like the idea of sitting him this game and playing if game 7 is necessary. They're going to definitely go for his head.

if the Wild don't have Zuccarello, they're done. The refs are going to try and help Minne by giving them PPs....I think it's coming back to Dallas.

Found it on YouTube TV. Thankfully, it works on the road.

Gave me a good reason to remember to cancel my Bally's subscription.
