That picture is very misleading. The fluke bounce makes it looks like everyone is out of position when in fact it was the Wild player who was in the worst position - just a bad bounce made it the right position.
Bingo
Well I tried to take the best shot but I agree it's confusing because that's an unfortunate bounce for sure. However, having four Stars players on one side still shouldn't happen. If Harley gets on the right corner, then make sure the center (Faksa I think) covers you up. The crease was let wide open.

Still tough to digest this one but I'm confident for game #2. At least losing the first one pinpoints the corrections to apply.

ToddM wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 10:13 am Yeah the Wild's alleged physiciality completely disappeared after two periods. I don't recall a single hit in OT...despite them not having the puck for long stretches in their own zone, which is usually when you see hits thrown.
We basically hit two and maybe three posts, the skinny shaft of the goalie stick and two diving stick plays to deflect open net slam dunks, all in OT. Will the Wild have that level of luck again? Possibly! I certainly hope they think they can rely on that moving forward.
They weren't as lucky as you're saying though. Despite "controlling" the OT periods, the Wild still had as many high quality chances as the Stars.

They weren't that physical after taking out one of our leaders, but that was just smart. I wouldn't have been either.

Basically game one could not have gone worse for Dallas. But it's only one game at least.
And I'm not ready to declare repeatability of playing like it's OT hockey for regulation time going forward. The Stars did look very good by generating more chances than the Wild and generally controlling play, but we only saw this after 60 minutes of play. Game two isn't going to start with both teams having run a 10K prior to pick drop.

The Wild defense seems to be a solid group of skaters, and the Stars need to realize chipping the puck off the glass from their own end or dumping it it from the neutral zone wasn't working because the Wild D were getting to those loose pucks before the Stars forwards. Maybe the physical game from the Wild caused some of those panic chips and dumps (also the name of my Tex-Mex themed B&B), but the Stars didn't need to be so quick to get rid of pucks.

With Pavelski out, I prefer to see a faster skilled guy inserted into the lineup to help with winning races and moving the puck, but it's probably going to be Kiviranta.
Hey, it's the playoffs. If you've been watching as long as we have, you know that this sometimes happens. And sometimes it happens for an entire series. It's not like any other sport.

We've done it to other teams.

Hopefully they figure it out.

It certainly doesn't *feel* like the Wild look all that amazing. But, the Stars haven't been either. It's harder to score goals in the playoffs and so far that depth hasn't worked it out. You get 5 periods against that team and you hope to put a little more pressure than that offensively.

Oettinger did kinda look like the controller unplugged a full second before the puck went in.

He looked like overtime Belfour to me until that moment. He's very good in a lot of respects, but he does have flaws in his game that need shoring up to be Belfour level.

Eh. He was great honestly. Even stopped a quasi-breakway to save the game earlier that OT, despite the criticism that he never does that.

He's not really any major issue to worry about imo.

Yeah, I agree. it would have taken a fanfuckingtastic effort from him to improve. There were a couplea situations where he might not have been letter perfect, but he was really *fargin'* good, and that ought to be enough to win a majority of the time.

Otter wasn't an issue last night. The team was just on their heels for long stretches for a variety of reasons.

I'm more worried about the first line than anything else right now.

I expect a different overall game for tomorrow night.

That’s what I saw, he leapt into Pavelski. And late.

Reviewing penalties like that is so stupid.

Yeah, I still see him kind of launching into Pavs upper body, and catching him in the jaw.

I can't see it because I don't have twitter and refuse to make one. I actually got rid of all my social media accounts a few years ago with the exception of Linkedin for professional reasons. I think social media is quite toxic for humanity in general.
