RD1 GM1 04/17 vs Wild (8:50?PM CT) - iacta alea est

Post by Troy McClure »

Oettinger starts.
Everyone healthy.

The mystery is which of the injured Wild players end up playing.

This one is on both Bally's and ESPN2. It follows the Islanders-Hurricanes game also on ESPN2, so there may be a delayed puck drop as we wait for the ESPN studio people to wrap up their east coast wankery.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

*Dang all Get out* scheduled times, but I knew that I'd eventually turn into a zombie by next week...

Seems that Eriksson Ek will be out, and Klingberg is also questionable for game #1...

If Klingberg is out, we have a small chance.

My gut says they will go with Gustavsson who has been very great the last couple of weeks.

Will we get another stupid Alan Walsh tweet if they do?

Starting the playoffs on a Monday? Are they trying to tank the TV ratings intentionally?

Major upgrade?

Now, let's be real. By any measure... fancy stats, real stats, eye test, 40 time, etc. ... Luke Glendening is one of the worst forwards in these playoffs.

I'm actually a bit surprised Glendening is in the lineup with Marchment back.

Kiviranta is not.

It's still weird seeing the name Marchment on a Stars jersey lol.

It's the overthinking faceoffs thing. He wins 59.1% of his faceoffs, making him second best on the team after Benn's 60.1%. But the thing is his linemate Faksa is third best on the team at 56.0%, so it's not like anyone will notice if Glendenning is scratched.

That and they love Glendenning on the PK even though he's not doing anything four other guys can't do.

It's not like Kiviranta is all that much better than Glendenning, but he is better.

Glendenning is pretty fast, he is a hard worker and teams that win need ‘em. Plus face offs and PK. Way preferred over Kiviranta.

I have ESPN+ but it looks like ESPN+ is not allowing us to watch. Any idea of how I should watch this game from NYC?

Yeah but so is Kiviranta with slightly better hands. But I guess it's a tough call.

Apparently, Bally+ is not available in NYC. Oh, I bet Sling has ESPN2. I can grab that for a couple of months.

You can't do that with Bally. They go off your billing zip code of course. Oh well. I got Sling and it's got everything anyway.

I think it's ridiculous that ESPN+ does not include live games on ESPN. Will cancel that now since it's useless in the playoffs.

It’s 2023. Search “espn2 free stream” on duckduckgo and you’ll find a million options. You’ll have to fight through a bunch of pop ups on seedy sites but you can usually find a hi-def stream of whatever you want and then airplay it to your TV.

Yeah I generally stay away from *poo poo* like that because too much effort lol.

I did a sling 1/2 off month but will cancel in May and do a YouTube trial for free.

You will get to see essentially every playoff game with any cable service. You’re good.

I need to go cancel my Bally’s app subscription.

I got gang-banged by taking the sportsnet subscription at a funest rate including the playoffs, but I also have TVA Sports which will broadcast all playoffs game as well. Oh well...
