41 years and zero cups. Man. That sucks.

With there now being 32 teams, multi decade droughts are going to be the norm for most all fans. Any team who wins two or three only makes the numbers worse for others.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Re: 2023 NHL Playoffs (Thread)
This is a fun story. It was just before I started to really watch hockey but I remember seeing ESPN Sports Center stories about it at the time and was amused and amazed by the rats.
The rats were thrown on the ice every time the underdog Panthers scored at home in their first season. By the time the playoffs rolled around it must've been a beating to clean up (and a beating for opponents to have to wait for it to be cleaned up).

You know what might help viewership? Not having every hockey media person talking like the Eastern Conference Final isn't worth watching.

Andrew Raycroft is a studio analyst for the Boston Bruins so of course he's going to be butthurt by seeing teams in non-traditional markets make it to the conference finals.Troy McClure wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 11:37 am You know what might help viewership? Also, I forgot he had a swim through here and had a pretty ugly looking mask.

Almost as ugly as those jerseys. Somehow the gold morphed into grey poupon color after they stopped wearing the all-star rip off jerseys. I like the silver better.

Yeah, those $200 practice jerseys. It's funny how this franchise managed to have some of the best jerseys of the League, but also some of the ugliest.

I remember having an argument with this guy in one of my undergrad classes back in 2016 about Eichel vs. McDavid. He thought Eichel was better.

Re: 2023 NHL Playoffs (Thread)
Is the Edmonton crowd quiet, or is this a problem with ESPN’s sound mix?

Re: 2023 NHL Playoffs (Thread)
Is the Edmonton power play lethal? It's unclear from the broadcast whether it is indeed lethal or otherwise.
Re: 2023 NHL Playoffs (Thread)
Messier looks like he's taking these goals against the Oilers personally. Like, he's on the verge of tears.

I can’t believe Ekholm got cut that bad with how he was high sticked. Did the Vegas guy have some sharp corner on his blade?

Edmonton needs more depth offense, more help on d, and major help in goal. Their goalie situation is terrifying. Their only hope is that Skinner comes back better next season.

Campbell was rock solid in the playoffs. Just have Skinner be good in the regular season and Campbell in the postseason.Troy McClure wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 11:45 pm Edmonton needs more depth offense, more help on d, and major help in goal. They're almost like a modern version of the 90's Mighty Ducks with Kariya and Selanne but nothing else. Not quite that bad, but similar.Troy McClure wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 11:45 pm Edmonton needs more depth offense, more help on d, and major help in goal. Their goalie situation is terrifying. I feel like they have way more scoring than that, but still have weaknesses.

The Oilers are literally a two person team LOL. This isn't basketball or soccer, and I take solace in their elimination each year knowing that real championship hockey requires depth and cap management and guts.

What about Ted Nugent-Hopkins?
