Boston in 6, Even though the Kittens are able to create the upset.
Toronto in 7. They are stronger than last year while Tampa is weaker and more inconsistent.
Carolina in 6. Sorokin won't be able to do everything to keep his team afloat.
Rangers in 6. It's a tough one but I'm going with NY's depth, experience and goalie.
Colorado in 6. I'd love to see the Kraken for the upset but the Avalanche is too loaded.
Dallas in 6. A very tough one but little details and Öttinger will make the difference
Vegas in 5. *f-bomb* Bowness.
Edmonton in 7. LA will be a pain in the ass for them but it's revenge time.

I hope Boston gets swept out of the playoffs. It won't happen, but it would be cool.

I hope so too. I'm still thinking Ullmark and Swayman (who are still good goalies) way overperformed throughout the regular season. I have the feeling they will be kicked out at some point. My surely-not-to-be-true bold prediction is if the Leafs go past the Lightning, they will be unstoppable.

And I'm curious to see if Edmonton's rookie goalie can keep up his good play in the playoffs. If they end up having to go back to Campbell, their awesome season could be all a waste.

I'm a lab researcher now studying heart disease and cancer. I've seen other researchers using this thing to answer questions/find data in the literature and the results are pretty mixed. Not ready for primetime yet for sure.

I like dynasties and hate the cap. Barring a Stars win, I want Boston to win it all because juggernaut teams are cool.SaintAngerBH wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 11:38 am I hope Boston gets swept out of the playoffs. It won't happen, but it would be cool.

Re: 2023 NHL Playoffs (Thread)
Yeah, I hear you. I hate the cap as well. Even with the clutch and grab stuff, the NHL was more exciting before the cap to me. It was fun being an underdog against the Red Wings in the early-mid 90s and it was fun being a quasi dynasty in the late 90's.slaps wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 9:56 amI like dynasties and hate the cap. The only reason I could live with a Bruins win is because of Bergeron. But I'm not feeling them winning the Cup, got the feeling for an upset maybe not this round but for an eventual second round against the Leafs.

Jim Montgomery last week-end (translated, original version was in french) : "we love the hard (...) we have to kiss the hard".

So the Flames look like they had a front office power struggle, and Darryl Sutter won. Their GM is gone, Sutter stays, and the Flames are doubling down on what we already know doesn't work.

excellent. I still haven't forgiven them for last year when they barely beat us and we weren't actually very good

Maybe the Flames should have waited a year before giving Huberdeau a long-term high-dollar extension.

Oh *poo poo*, Florida's starting an AHLer in his first-ever playoff game? Boston is *fargin'* doomed.

Legitimate question. Was it a mistake to fire Monty because of his hard partying ways?

Not when it sounds like he did something beyond getting drunk. He’d already missed a game because he was too drunk or hung over before whatever he did made Nill immediately fire him.SaintAngerBH wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:47 pm Legitimate question. I also don’t recall him being an especially good coach in Dallas. Could’ve been the poor roster too though, so who knows.

I was thinking he looks better than he is because of Boston's roster.ScubaSteve wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:56 pm I also don’t recall him being an especially good coach in Dallas. Could’ve been the poor roster too though, so who knows.
I don't think it was a mistake either but I can see how someone might think so today.

Re: 2023 NHL Playoffs (Thread)
The thing it makes you ask though: if it's the players so much, why care about the coach? How much of a difference does the coach make?
I definitely think we have a better coach this season but I also think we have better players.

Still, Montgomery was the coach of a one-wraparound-to-beat-the-future-SC-winner team.
