This recent slump and the overall mediocre play for the last couple of months is due to a change of direction with the team. They opened the season loose, having fun, surprising us and themselves with the increased goal scoring and wins. But at some point a couple of months back when things were going so well it seems like they thought, "Hey, wait a minute, we might actually be much better than we thought we were going to be; we better lock it down and play Stars Hockey, good ole Dump and Chase, yeah that's what's needed...and we have this great goalie, I think we can 1-0, or on a bad night 2-1!"
But the hockey gods will not allow a team built like the Stars to win the Cup, it ain't happening. Maybe Deboer was talked out of his style of play by Nill, maybe Gaglardi? Don't know when that sea change was made but it's not been going so well for a couple of months now. And the team looks unhappy, depressed, defeated...you can see it in their body language. Seems like they might as well play Deboer's style and develop a fast, scoring team, this team is not going deep in the playoffs with this dump and chase nonsense.
Deboer is losing the team?

Re: Deboer is losing the team?
i think you see the unhappiness of direction in Joe, Marchment, Seguin a little, most all of the forwards with the exception of Benn(he's having a good year)...the defense corp is not a great one...they're probably not in the top 10 as a group...so you better try to score more.

I do agree that something changed. This looks a lot more like Bowness hockey and not DeBoer hockey.

Re: Deboer is losing the team?
I'm waiting to call for his head until after the season. In the preseason, he set the top PP unit, set the top line, and set Marchment-Seguin and Benn-Johnston. He made those decisions in late September, and we're over a month into seeing a lot of problems with no hint he will ever change up any of these roles.
If this thing stays in the ditch the rest of the way with him refusing to change anything up, then I'll be mad.
