Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
My boss explained it as follows:
"Reedy plays the Dallas way; Bigger etc.
More NHL experience too."
I liked JP as depth, but I guess I'm placated. Whatever LOL.

He’s a body for the AHL team.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Thrown into the Klingberg trade was Sustr. He’s a name I’ve heard watching games, but I don’t think I ever realized how he spelled his name. Also, Andrej Sustr has a funny career path:
- Undrafted free agent signing by Tampa
- Signed with the Ducks
- Signed with Tampa
- Waiver claim by the Ducks
- Signed with the Wild
- Traded to the Ducks

He's in Dallas for something. It was mentioned on the Ticket yesterday, but I don't remember why.

Probably to plug his new movie about a guy with a Boston accent who either commits or prevents crimes.

He was at Specs selling his tequila according to the passengers I had last night.
you don't realize that your pants are too long until you walk to get a taco in the rain.

These Czech dudes are high on the Stars, even moreso if/when our Big 3 graduate into legit NHL stars in 2025ish:

A good counterpoint to this argument is actually watching the Stars play

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
I've been hearing about how the Stars are poised to dominate for a decade now. It's tiresome. I've watched plenty of other teams go from middling or bad to perennial Cup contenders through aggressive smart moves. I've watched the Stars claw their way all the way up to being a "maybe" for the playoffs almost every year.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
It's true that we have some really good players under reasonable contracts and a couple nice looking prospects in the pipeline, but it takes a lot more than that to dominate.
For example, playing well in the last minute.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
And they need serious D help in the future. They need at least two of Lundkvist, Harley, Bichsel, and Kyrou to make it as quality NHLers. Right now, we can't say any of them are going to be very good, which is always the challenge with prospects. A guy like Lindell might be approaching retirement age before we see the two recent draft picks getting full time NHL.opportunities.
Or the likely answer is that if the forward prospects are as awesome as we hope they are, they'll be the trade source to add help on defense down the road.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
Having Suter off the books will be an immediate improvement to the D and clearing some cap space at the same time.
Then, the Stars would need a good puck mover offensive-minded Dman. Can Lundkvist improve significantly to be that guy? Maybe, and it better be as I don't have much faith or hope in Harley. A big talented physical top-4 defenseman is a must IMO, see Bischsel for that... About Lindell, we can have a way cheaper option to fill his role as a 4th/5th/6th Dman.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
They had Klingberg on a Faksa-money contract for 7 years, several of which overlapped with Miro on an ELC, and they were canceled out by the Benn and Seguin dead weight money, just like Robertson and Hintz are now.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
Looks like Lundkvist is going to go back to the scratch list.
If the team doesn't think he has it, why not call up Harley and give him a shot? They're running out of season to figure out who they trust as their #6 guy.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
I’m not gonna look it up, but probably not enough cap space to have an extra guy on the roster sitting idle. The roster size limit goes away after the trade deadline I believe, but the cap does not.

I think Harley might've "played" too many games last season for him to clear waivers, too.

Re: 2022-2023 Stars Regular Season Thread
That's true. This problem may solve itself soon. Both Wedgewood and Glendening are going on the road trip and are expected to start playing again soon. This means Murray and Olofsson will get sent back down to the AHL. Maybe then we'll see if Harley gets a shot.ScubaSteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 3:52 pm I’m not gonna look it up, but probably not enough cap space to have an extra guy on the roster sitting idle. Capfriendly says he's still waiver exempt for a while.

Pretty funny. The Stars post this tweet, and minutes later DeBoer lets Stars media know he's still scratching Lundkvist.
