Blümel recalled from AHL, the evil Matt Murray (© Knives) sent back down. Good news towards the return of Öttinger and maybe we'll see some changes in the second and third line with Blümel having a shot.

He's being plugged right onto the second line as the RW.

Gurianov didn't practice with an upper body injury.

Because of the tight cap, Wedgewood being injured means they have to send Blumel back down to be able to bring Murray up as the backup. This also pretty much guarantees Oettinger gets no game off for the next little while.

Sounds like Wedgewood got back spasms and nothing serious, but back spasms can take a couple of days or a week to get over. We'll see.

DeBoer about scratching Miller:
“With (Miller), I really like a lot of the things he does. The things I’ve talked to him about are just consistency, a little more consistency in his game, but not an easy decision on who comes out.”
And the impact on defensive pairs:
“For sure, (special teams) is a big piece of it, too. All of those other guys play a key role on special teams, so that definitely does. But taking a righty out and putting a lefty in also creates a situation where we’re playing Miro now on his off side again, which I don’t mind but isn’t perfect. All of those things go into the hat when you’re making those decisions.”

Miller had been a pleasant surprise. He sagged, as did the team a bit over the past several games, but he's preferable over Hanley, I thought.

I can never which one I’m supposed to like, Hanley or Harley.

Yeah, Miller has been good for what was expected of him. I understand wanting to get Hanley a game.

I would've put Hanley in place of Suter. A lefty for another lefty, and Suter really needs a maintenance break.

Miller has been fine. He’s an above-average bottom-pairing guy.

Robertson is tied for the league lead in goals, is third in overall points, and is on pace for like 125 points.

I’m going to need a couple more seasons here to be sure, but early signs are the kid may be good.

Robertson's finishing stat is off the charts. Basically eating two 50oz bronc buster steaks, fries included.

The NHL has been doing the three stars of the month thing since 2006. Here are all of the Stars to get first Star of a month:

Benn Oct 15-16
Pavelski Jan 20-21
Robertson Nov 22-23

So I guess...

With ~ 8 or 9 hockey months, 16 years, and 32 teams .. a team would have slightly over 4 stars of the month since 2006 if they were evenly distributed since it began.

There haven't always been 32 teams and the months are actually averaged fewer but ballpark maybe?

We need another this year while we have a top first line.

It’s less common than you think because of all of the repeat winners. Ovechkin has been the first star of a month eight times. McDavis has seven times. Crosby has five times.

Yeah. I'm sure. But pretending it was evenly distributed.

I'm sure it heavily leans towards the big names.
