2022 Stars Off-Season Thread
Re: 2022 Stars Off-Season Thread
This morning I mentioned reports that De Boer was gonna be the Stars new coach. My husband looked at his wiki page and it said he was the Stars head coach. Since I didn't see anything official, I went to his wiki page and now it does not say he is the Stars head coach.
Anyway, he prolly will be, but some shenanigans goin' on.
I don't hate him, but like many, I was kind of looking forward to a brand new toy. Cuz why not!

One other national writer last night made it sound like they’re working on contract details but haven’t fully agreed.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

The Athletic is saying it will probably be a 4 year deal. *Dang all get out-.
Re: 2022 Stars Off-Season Thread
1st season does the best then it gets worse as his system is implemented more.
Re: 2022 Stars Off-Season Thread
21-22 half his team was injured. The big knock against his system is that the numbers don't really translate into on-ice success. Remember when we beat them in five games? They launched shots from everywhere, but didn't really have any finishing ability.

So that'll be a $12m buyout when he gets fired next summer along with Nill. They must finally be done paying Monty, so Gaglardi has some extra cash.

Also, I don't think it really matters who the coach is until they can unload the Benn and Seguin contracts. Until then, it's a one line team whose ceiling is a bubble playoff team. So a coach who can keep them as a bubble playoff team for the next few years is about the most they can hope for.

Now that The Farmer is confirmed, I'd say welcome and enjoy triple-digit temperatures.

One thing I don't like about him, though, is that he's a liar.
For instance, today he said he "wants to win the Stanley Cup".
Clearly the fact that he has come to Dallas belies this nonsense.

That part about "players who can score" may be a problem for him.

I'm delighted to see a couple of Suters and Raffls joining the team with the full NMC/NTC buyout-proof contracts.

I will that say two of Nill's last 4 drafts have been incredible. Maybe he's learning how to.... love?

And I'm never sure what to make of Nill's personnel decisions given the pressure from ownership to embrace Hitchball and win now. Even the press conference for this hiring started with talk about how this franchise is built first around defense and being hard to play against.

What the *f-bomb* am I supposed to make of that?

Nill also remained open to the idea of becoming a president of hockey operations once he is done being the team’s general manager.
Rich Peverley was promoted to director of player personnel last year with the idea that he was on a GM trajectory
