Flames in 6, but if they go on to win the Cup the Stars can tout for years how they almost beat the Cup champions so essentially are close to being Cup champions.

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
I feel like our biggest victory was when -- on the last day of the season -- Nashville gave up 5 consecutive goals to Arizona in regulation proving that Dallas is the 7th best team in the west.
I'm comfortable with that final rank. That feels about right.

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
Only 41 ROW. How many of those were 3 on 3 OT wins? I’m not going to look it up but I think it’s more than a few. This team feels like as much of a mirage as the year where Jussi Jokinen won like 25 shootouts

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
Of the 46 "wins" the Stars had, 31 were Regulation Wins. So a whole lot of points gained in fake hockey time.

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
So 15 extra points... realistically they woulda had half those in real ot. so maybe 3.5 extra wins

I'm fine with just raising the "Better than Nashville" banner and then having a few beers.
I think I might actually root for calgary later on. I find them the least detestable.

Game 1 & 2 at 10:15pm ET, Game 3 & 4 at 9:45pm ET. *Dang all Get out*.
Flames in 6 so we can enjoy 3 home games in terms of revenue.

I'm just now realizing that the Stars are playing the flames, how the hell did that happen. the preds we're leading 4-0. did they get some info on the AVS and decide to lose? I honestly think the Stars matched up better with the AVS, but now we got the flames, I'll predict the gentlemans sweep. flames

No one would be seriously dumb enough to intentionally play the Avs I think.Getsmacked123 wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 6:54 pm I'm just now realizing that the Stars are playing the flames, how the hell did that happen. the preds we're leading 4-0. did they get some info on the AVS and decide to lose? Aside from the Flames winning in a manner that’s more sustainable in the playoffs, it’s also worth noting that the Flames scored 60 more goals than the Stars did, and allowed 38 fewer goals.

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
I'm seeing some Stars media types talking about the Flames like they're a mirror image of the Stars because their top line scores so much.
This is a highly scientific look at the scoring depth done by simply going down the stat sheet in order of points scored. I wasn't trying to tally things by which line a guy actually played on. Here are the point totals for these groupings.
Forwards
Top 3 - Stars 232 - Flames 301 -- Flames +69 (nice)
Second 3 - Stars 126 - Flames 127 - Flames +1
Third 3 - Stars 58 - Flames 76 -- Flames +18
Fourth 3 - Stars 39 - Flames 30 -- Stars +9
Defense
Top 2 - Stars 83 - Flames 98 -- Flames +15
Second 2- Stars 57 - Flames 59 -- Flames +2
Third 2 - Stars 18 - Flames 39 -- Flames +21
My quick observation is yeah the Flames top line is *fargin'* awesome but the offense generated from their defense is something to watch in this series.

I remember how disappointed I was when I found out Newy's favorite band was Nickleback:
Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
Despite the fact that the Stars will need Öttinger to steal four games if they want to go past the Flames, I'm more worried about the Flames' depth. And even if he's still grossly overpaid, Lucic is my hidden card in this series. He has shown some good stuff recently and he's not a yapping tool like Reaves. A Lucic-Benn fight can be fun.

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
I'm enjoying the Athletic hockey writers all point to the Stars as the most hilarious team because they could get blown out by Calgary or win in five. The Stars aren't viewed as any good but capable of winning any given game. One guy was talking about how much he enjoyed watching the Stars all season because he found them to be the funniest team in the league with unexpected wins, comical collapses, a few long win streaks, several losing streaks, and riding a roller coaster of being in and out of the playoffs all season. He made note of how this team's inconsistency has driven Stars fans crazy.

Re: 2022 Stars Playoff Thread
Has any team ever gone scoreless in a best of 7 series? Or is the record low that 2003 ANA/MIN series where Minny only scored one goal in four games?
