If the Avs get bounced by the Blues, lots of people are going to call them chokers or losers, but the sad truth is the Avs are getting some crappy goaltending.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Raanta got hurt for the Canes, so they’re down to a third string goalie I’ve never heard of. This kid is worse than any EBUG. Every shot beats him. He is so bad. The Rangers are going to win with ease.

The Rangers run is an oddity because every time I watch them they look like garbage. And keep surviving.

Apparently they've only played 5% of these playoffs against an actual starting goalie. So that helps.

Binnington is a shitbird.

Also, watching the Divealanche / Oilers is amazing. Even watching players on the Oilers kill penalties by carrying the puck into the Avalanche zone and just looping around and weaving to kill time is like “oh this is what good hockey looks like.”

This all-star game is making everyone happy but the coaches and players.

WCF = some of the worst goaltending you’ll ever see

ECF = some of the best goaltending you’ll ever see

Tampa is going to eat the WCF winner alive.

Let's see how long those good ECF goalies last. It seems goalie injuries is the theme of these playoffs.

McD is gonna end up with more points in this playoff run than Benn had in the regular season during his Art Ross year.

It's not just goaltending of course. The number of odd man rushes was insane. I think both teams thought they could bury the other with speed and aggression.

It was a mess, but CO looked dominant. They could sweep the Oil.

But they couldn't do that. They wanted stability in the coaching position. Don't you see the benefits of this stability? So stable they just fired the whole coaching staff.

Another stellar performance by Smith. The goalie curse is still on up north.

Eh, Smith saved their asses many times too. The Oilers didn't have the team defense and didn't work as hard as CO. You could see it pretty much every game. Even last night's game, which was the closest, CO won so many more battles.

Smith was .857 in this game and his suicidal play leading to Rantanen's goal put the Avs back on track. He wasn't 100% out of responsability on McKinnon's tying goal on the short side too. I guess Woodcroft's message before the OT was "please don't blow it and stay in your *Dang all Get out* crease". You just can't have this level of goaltending on a WCF game. Overall in the playoffs, he's .913 with a 3.17 GAA. That's insufficient if you hope for a deep run. Edmonton's defense has always been porous for years but Smith didn't help his team either. He got the #1 job only because Koskinen is even worse.

Smith wasn't very good. He hasn't been in a while. It's mind-blowing to me that the Oilers stayed with him.

Everyone is acting like that series was amazing, but personally I thought it sucked.

I'll admit there were some amazing moments of scoring -- mostly because Colorado knew the Oilers couldn't hang with them, and the Oilers refused to abandon the only style they knew (easier said than done anyway).

But, there was no real tension or defense.

McD and Draisaitl both had 30+ points in three rounds.

That's what made it worth watching. McDavid was simply amazing. And Makar and MacKinnon were fun.

But man, the Oilers had nothing past that first line. And their defense gives them nothing. It felt like their PP was 75% nothing more than Tyson Barrie having the puck on his stick not knowing what to do with it. That dude is not anywhere near equipped to be a PP QB, but there he was game after game wasting PP time.

It's a real shame Draisaitl was playing so hurt because he was clearly limited.

This may be the stupidity talking, but I kinda feel like Dallas would've been the only team that could give Colorado a run for their money (seeing as Vegas didn't even make it in). We certainly had the only goalie to actually show up in the entire Western Conference playoffs.

Maybe the Avs would have swept the Stars with 1-0 wins. Also, the Oilers had a true D-man liability in Duncan Keith. Some sort of a bearded Suter but a bit quicker.
