20. If you thought re-assembling Benn, Seguin and Radulov was desperate, there’s still another level of desperation for the Stars to tap into. Thursday morning, Bowness talked about the potential of splitting up the top line of Robertson, Hintz and Pavelski. (...) “We hate to do that, but if you’re not scoring, then all bets — you can’t keep doing the same things over and over, you’ve got to try something different,” Bowness said. “I did it before for two games and didn’t like the results of it but it’s something we absolutely have to look at, if we have to do it.”

After the Washington game, the Pavelski & sons line should be safe for another week or so.

It's not about that trio, but that no other line is scoring. It's not a bad idea to put one of them with another line to help it. He has been double shifting all three of those guys by adding one to some other line. It's not really desperate just mixing it up and hoping for something.

Yeah, in a sense I get the thing related to one of Einstein's principle who says that the definition of insanity is to re-do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. But then comes another Einstein's statement whic stipulates: "Do not *fargin'* touch the Pavelski-Robertson-Hintz ever, otherwise our galaxy and the whole universe will turn into *poo poo*".

I don't think moving the top line around will have any effect. Those guys just click well together. The rest of the roster is largely bottom-six defensive-minded guys, so it's a question of roster construction, not finding consistency. They can't find what they don't have, and Nill and Co. have prioritized guys who try and minimize mistakes over guys with skill and offensive talent. It's a recurring and ongoing issue with the Stars - they bring in guys and expect those guys to adapt to the system instead of putting in place a system and staff that is designed to maximize a player's strengths. Putting Pavelski between Kiviranta and Raffl isn't going to magically impart to Kiviranta and Raffl the hockey sense or skills to do what Robertson and Hintz can do.

Of the three, Robertson may be able to elevate some other spares to perform better. But yes, it is pretty much guaranteed to just lower the output of those three.

Wasn't he playing like *poo poo* before the contract disgruntlement? Now he has to showcase himself to get that sweet overpayment this summer. Nill is an expert motivator, getting the most out of his players.

He was early on playing unusually bad for him. Which is strange because he is basically the straw that stirs the drink here.

Peterson has been playing well, but so was Studenic. His play didn’t warrant a healthy scratch, and Bowness alluded to scratching a veteran at some point.

“It’s harder to do with a veteran, there’s no question,” Bowness said. “Marian can take it because we got him on waivers and he was sitting out and he was up and down. He understands. Same with Petey. A veteran probably won’t take it as good. But those are tough conversations you have to have. The team has to come first. It has to come first. And we will do what we think is best for the team.”

The Stars need their best players to play while maintaining a strong dressing room environment. As the coach, Bowness has to find a way to accomplish both.

"Because another team thought you sucked and maybe you don't, we're going to sit you in favor of a veteran who definitely does suck right now but will pout like a toddler if we actually make them responsible for their play."

Seems like for a very long time the Stars had big images of Benn and Seguin in their practice rink. At some point in the past couple of months, they changed them to Klingberg and Radulov. Wonder if this was part of the effort to make Klingberg feel appreciated.

When Klingberg leaves in the summer, Miro is going to get to pick whichever side he wants.

But Castillo has been saying this about Miro for a while, and it's not like Miro was piling up points on his strong side.

Also, for fun go look at Miro’s history and look at the seasons in which he was a big point producer. His scoring record is whelming.
