Not real woke to draft a white male in the first round. Just saying.

We need to draft a Sawyer in 2022.
Or someone with Wayne as their middle name.

Sounds like he didn't play at all this past year except the U18 tournament in Frisco. On one hand, that probably does make him difficult to evaluate. On the other hand, how much does losing a year of hockey at age 17 hurt your development? I have no idea.

With so many entire lost seasons, this is probably the draft that will produce the most late-round gems.

So I kinda didn't pay attention to any top-10 picks this season, but man... the #1 overall guy just doesn't sound very impressive:

He's apparently a good skater, but without offense or physicality or any actual highlight reel plays. And somehow that makes him like Hedman?

The draft nerds don’t think much of this draft class.

Looks like the Stars went all skill with their day two picks so far.

Stars scouting director discussed each draft.
Paraphrasing:
Both kids we took in the 2nd we had rated in the 1st

The keys to every draft are getting as many of the top picks you had rated high but also about having rated the correctly in the first place. Ah the least the first part was accomplished. Now we wait. Until I've forgotten their names again.

I'm glad they went with a bunch of high-skill, high-reward guys, instead of "safe" picks.

If Roulette pans out, they need to put him with Gurianov for the obvious line name.

Pretty much everyone creative always wins the dangerous passer metric. I've always thought it's a positive stat if it's paired with the right other stats.

Yeah, but it's highly unusual that we got all the top three passers in the draft class. Very un-Stars-esque. Like drafting three Brad Richardes in the same year.

Ayrton Martino was taken with the 3rd we got for Dickinson, so he's my man. ;)

I take that claim with a grain of salt.

I think we can fairly say this shows a type of drafting philosophy. Doesn’t mean it will yield results, but that’s true of every draft philosophy because most picks don’t work out. But I’ll take this approach. It at least brings more hope of fun on the horizon than drafting checking line guys.

I hope he's as good as Dickinson but it's a tall order.
