He could be a decent pick up, but his price probably won't be worth it.

Fun read from DGB. He *starts* by taking the top-drafted players at each position and seeing which years make the most dominant teams, but by the end he comes to the conclusion that NHL scouts are, uhh.... not perfect at their jobs.

Smart. Don't lock yourself into a franchise for almost a decade, especially when $30 million from a 3x10 will let him live like a king in Russia the rest of his life. Flexibility is good because you don't want your prime wasted for a *poo poo* team.

Hey, we're on your side here. You can be a scout. We're all for it. No need to constantly try making the case.

A sort of Blake Comeau of the riches in D version, but even slower. One of the laziest player since Vanek. The NHL has become way too fast for him.

(Speaking about Suter, I mean)

And it's easy to say you'll sign him for cheap hoping he'll be fine in a much smaller role, but can you trust your coach to keep from overplaying the vet?

I wouldn't trust Bowness. Fortunately the Stars are too tight with the cap.

Otherwise, Suter is still ok on a third pair and on a second PP unit (but coupled with another mobile D-man) at a bargain price. He loves his little Wisconsin comfort, maybe Winnipeg could be a landing spot as the Jets have one of the most terrible defense in the League.

He's probably thinking of retiring in 3 years to spend more time with his grandkids and Soviet Matlock re-runs.

I guess taking all of it isn't considered a tax?

Only aging guys on the verge of retirement care much about being on a contending team. He just wants as much money as possible.

If Weber retires, isn’t Nashville on the hook for his recapture penalty?

Yandle's buyout will cost the Panthers $2.3M next season, but $5.4M in 2022-2023. And they still have Darling at $1.2M and Luongo at $1.1M

And they have just re-signed Duclair for three years.

The Stars are gonna be in the same boat in 2-3 years with the Benn and Seguin contracts

This is the prelude to sending him to Robidas Island where he can live out the rest of his contract on LTIR and the team can take the insurance money.

I'll be that guy:

Spoiler:
People like to rationalize accidental deaths to give purpose or meaning to the loss. Someone 20 to 30 feet away was almost certainly not going to be fatally hit in the chest.

No one was saved. He died for nothing.

Isles clear some cap space by trading Nick Leddy to Detroit for Panik (50% retained) and a 2021 2nd.

Nolan Patrick getting (double-?) traded for *poo poo* on the same day Miro gets paid?

Seattle's path is going to be much harder than Vegas. Seattle is getting no bribes, and teams are shuffling around their *poo poo*. Looks like the Kraken are going to be in for a long and slow build.

Maybe, maybe not. Rumour is they are going to use the expansion draft to hit the cap floor only, and then fill out the rest/spend to the max with free agency, something that Vegas didn't do, and something that they have an advantage of money wise what with all of the teams being cap fucked due to the pandemic fallout ...

Rumour also is that their price for not selecting a player is two 1sts LOL, so if anything they are doing it to themselves.

Isn't the problem with this plan that there aren't really going to be very many quality UFAs to chase?

There have been a LOT of articles / comments about how Francis' asking prices are absolutely wild.

'Tis a better meal than just expansion scraps ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
