Same.

“Second tweet tells me that Klingberg is who CBJ wants (fair), and the Stars aren’t biting. This feels like Miro for Karlsson again.”

a Heiskanen/Jones pairing does sound pretty *fargin'* tempting though.

Lindell for Jones would be fine with me.

Ya *Dang ol'* right it would be. Even if it means us having to add a 1st and *poo poo*.

We don’t need Klingberg since Harley is going to be our “next Klingberg.”

There is a point where these D get too expensive. To add and extend Jones, one of Lindell or Klingberg have to go. You have to hope Harley can provide some offense at a bargain rate in the near future.

Lindell is locked in at a known cost for four more years. Klingberg is going to want a decent raise soon.

I guess you look forward in a couple of seasons thinking having Miro on a big deal with both Klingberg and Jones on nice extensions becomes affordable when you lose Pavelski and Radulov to free agency/retirement. But you're putting a lot of money in your D group.

Which is really why the Lindell deal is not good. I'd much rather have Klingberg than Lindell.

I mean, if Klingberg is going to demand more than Heiskanen, then yeah, ship him out. But I'd really prefer that they dump Lindell and make it work with Klingberg.

Klingberg is pretty much our most creative player.

Klingberg is an NHL unicorn. You can replace him, but it would take like 3 guys to do it.

That said, Seth Jones isn't that bad of a consolation prize.

We should trade one of our lefties for a decent righty.
Politically, I mean; but we could also use a good right shot defenseman.

It's not as if Jones is cheap either and he's only signed through next year.

At times it goes from most to only. A team desperate for offense losing Klingberg could be a disaster.

We’re a good team because we have both Klingberg and Heiskinen.

OR…sell high on a useful player for once instead of signing them to an insane long term contract and handcuffing the player to your roster for a decade past his usefulness.

Selling high on him would've been one or two seasons ago when he still had good term left on his relatively cheap deal. Trading him now is not selling high. I also think his type of game, which is not based on fast skating or physical play, should age rather well.

*Dang all Get out*. With Seattle likely to pick & sign Oleksiak now, getting Seth Jones without losing Klingberg has become crucial ...

Question... does Lindell only ever play on the left side? And how impacted would he be if he played on his off side? Like he already is terrible at breakouts and has zero offensive zone creativity, so what would the impact really be of sticking him on the right side? Thinking of (if we can't or won't trade him) pairing him with Miro but letting Miro play on his natural side.

I mean, in a perfect world we get Seth Jones without dismantling the first pairing, leading to an interchangeable top 4 of:

Klingberg/Lindell
Heiskanen/Jones

But we'll see LOL. Honestly though, this has been the most interesting and fun league wide off-season in a looooong time.

We’re the 4th oldest in average player age, according to these guys : https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/n ... /2020-2021

At some point we have to do something to get younger players to complement Jonesy and Reilly, or whatever their names are.

Al is right. Is Heiskanen or Klingberg the future? We know the answer, so trade Lindell+ away for Jones to give Miro his perfect partner, and then focus on finding a replacement partner for Klinger on the second pairing in the form of a cheap UFA (Suter?) or Harley LOL.

I guess it depends on whether you see this coming season as the final year of the window where Pavelski, Radulov, and Klingberg are here with now fully healthy Seguin and Bishop. Of course, the problem is hoping to be going for it with a bunch of old guys can just as easily land you with a season where you’re pointing to injuries as your excuse.

The whispers on HFboards in regard to the Oleksiak signing not being made official yet since being leaked a couple hours ago (Larsson's was publically announced shortly after) indicate that there might still be a chance that he stays ...

Radio silence.

Who says we were going to resign him anyway? I'm sure they had contract discussions before deciding to expose him, and if they were way off, then this is the same as letting him walk as a UFA.

Nill might not have wanted to sign him prior to the expansion draft and would rather force Seattle have to make a higher offer. But Nill could only offer so much because he doesn't have a lot of cap room.

The team, at least according to what I've seen mentioned, thinks the window to win is now, so if that's the case you'd keep Klingberg and not hope Harley does fine. Especially on a team that already struggles at offense.
