Yes. The Canes are playing for the chance to shutout the Stars in 4 consecutive games in the first round.

Carolina needs to beat Nashville in both games to win the Presidents Trophy, otherwise Vegas could win it.

Svechnikov is so tempermental and undisciplined. No wonder he's so easy to shut down/eat alive in the playoffs.

'Canes hit the crossbar.

And it is still funny to me that Nashville has a player named Ben Harpur.

0-0 after one. It's a fun fast-paced game so far. Nashville fighting to make the playoffs, and 'Canes fighting for the Presidents' Trophy (plus knowing that they would face this exact same team in Round 1 if they lose).

Gaylord Entertainment Center at 40%, so biggest crowd of the season for them.

Pretty exciting for a 0-0 game. Would be more fun to watch if there was less at stake.

So the broadcast explaining that when Predators fans stand up and cheer throughout an entire TV time-out, that it's called a "Smashville Standing O", as if they *fargin'* invented the *fargin'* standing ovation ...

Anyways I guess it worked because Nashville is up 1-0 now?

Hey, if you name it, you can claim it. The Red Wings figured this out when they painted Hockeytown, USA on their rink.

Finally got logged in. The play by play guy has a slightly odd delivery. Can't tell if I'm hearing a but of deeper voiced Ben Shapiro or what.

Not much push from Carolina in these last five minutes.

I would pay good money to listen to him call a hockey game. That would be hilarious.

Whelp, the season is done. The Stars tried to loser point their way in. This is the right result. No team with only 20 non-shootout wins out of fifty something games should be in the playoffs.

Nashville hits the empty netter. At least I was able to watch an entertaining hockey game. It had been a while.
