Did Kaprizov win all the other months?

LOL no actually. It was January = G Vitek Vanecek (WAS), February = F Tim Stützle (OTT), and March = G Alex Nedeljkovic (CAR).

So, the monthly awards are like little league participation trophies.

The past three games have been the "biggest game of the season", so of course we only scored a total of 1 goal LOL. Anyways ...

We've reached the "if the entire Nashville roster gets mud butt and they have to forfeit all of their remaining games, we still have a chance" part of the season.

I'm way more worried about the Jackets trying to steal our OT/SO loser award in the final push. They are just 2 down with 3 remaining games.

This team remains in an interesting place. The emergence of Hintz and Robertson change how I view the immediate future. Next season's top six forwards are probably:

Benn-Seguin-Radulov
Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski

Four of those six are some mix of having an annoying injury history, in decline, or at an age where injury/decline wouldn't be a surprise. Then you add in the extreme ups and downs of Gurianov, and the forward group could be very good next season or just a continuation of the mess we got this season.

Contracts for several of those guys make moving them a challenge even if that was the best option.

This is a moderate amount of typing for me to say I expect the team to be better next season but not supremely better, and I'm not sure what can really be done to change things up for the better. My guess is Nill brings back more of the UFAs than we expect and tries the same roster again.

I think the roster is OK. It’s not a top-tier roster, but it’s not awful. Poor usage of the roster by the coaching staff is the bigger concern. That’s not a top six built for defense.

Damn, does some of this sound familiar:

https://theathletic.com/2525143/2021/04 ... ir-future/
In fact, almost everything Granato says and does is contrary to Krueger.

The former coach demanded adherence to his defensive principles.

“I love offense, and I love to focus on offense,” Granato said.

Krueger blamed losses on the players’ inability to follow his system.

“We know if we just play a system and you focus on trying to play that system, you’re really not improving your skill or your ability at the NHL level,” Granato said.

Krueger put shackles on his offensively gifted players, especially Dahlin.

“I’ve spoken with Rasmus quite a bit,” Granato said, “giving him the green light.”

The fired coach stuck with the same players in the same roles even when it failed. Granato has used 12 skaters in one overtime, including six who were age 23 and under.
“I don’t spend too much time on that,” he said with an aw-shucks grin. “But I do feel a responsibility to the fans and the Sabres contingent. We’re in the entertainment business. It should be entertaining. I want to be entertained, you know? So, I can only imagine the fans.

“That was one thing that I had in mind was to make our games more intriguing, interesting, fun and entertaining with every team I’ve coached. This is no different. I’m not trying to coach necessarily to this situation. I’m just coaching the way I coach. That’s always been my philosophy and my approach to it.

“We all love the game, so let’s play it at a level that we can enjoy.”
Can the Stars hire him if the Sabres don't keep him?

Noooooooo, all my love, faith and devotion to coach Krüger is now in jeopardy. I'm heartbroken.

I used to like him a lot in the time he was the head of Switzerland for more than 15 years, taking the team from a rotten pond to to build a legitimate top-6 follower. But yeah, he hasn't changed much, still the same boring old-school hockey vision. It works on terrible teams with nobodies but as soon as he has fast skilled young and creative players, it miserably fails.

Unfortunately, just 1. And it's quite likely he is re-sgined by the Stars.

This season has been difficult for mohr reasons than just covid and the weather issue. Once they got into a losing hole it's hard to climb out. The Stars could have thrown in the towel a long time ago, but each and every night they play hard. The newbies, Oettinger in particular, but even Robertson, are getting mohr experience. The schedule for the past 6 or 7 weeks has been grueling. They look tired and over the past week or so have been playing like it.

The Stars best asset are their D corp. Hopefully Oleksiak is back next season. That Robertson appears to be an offensive stud is a just a bowness. (I couldn't help myself)

Pavelski is the player going to Seattle in my mind and will be a big loss. But that's 7 mil mohr to add to the offense, with hopefully mohr speed.

I do hope they re-sign Oleksiak. I think a lot of people underrate having a guy who can play in the top four and is just good. Not a top player or spectacular, but is just steady and good most nights. A lot of teams are looking for guys like that.

I think there's a decent chance some other team gives Oleksiak a Lindell-like contract and snags him away.

The Arhletic came up with some lists of the worst shooters in the NHL. Cogliano, Dickinson, and Sekera all made the lists.

Kane banked the puck into the net off Janmark enough times this year to skew the stats.

Alrighty then. So here are the only remaining scenarios where we make the playoffs:

1) Nashville loses both remaining games in regulation against Carolina, AND, we take 5 of 6 points (come on 15th extra-time loss!).

2) Nashville goes 0-1-1, AND, we take 6 of 6 points.

A single Nashville win of any kind, or a single Stars regulation time loss will officially eliminate us ...

And Robo is now 4-points back of Kaprizov with 4 less games played.
