LOL. Rick DiPietro is still on the Islanders' books at $1.5MM per year until 2029.

Best news of the off-season. No more Pierre on NHL broadcasts.

I'm disappointed every time someone is given a player development or scouting job and it isn't Todd.

Do they not get to watch NBC in Ottawa?

I'd watch a show where Todd is put in charge of a team but is only allowed to use players over the age of 28

I'm in. Does Polak have any older, slower brothers I could draft?

If I recall correctly, Pat Verbeek said McGuire was the joke of the NHL when he coached the Whalers.

So, he'll fit right in, in Ottawa.

Felt inevitable after the helmet ads and the NBA doing this already.

The league lost so much *fargin'* money on the bubble and this past season. The only reason they played at all was they would have lost even more by canceling the season and refunding tv and sponsor contracts. The new tv deals will help, but they need new non-ticket revenue streams asap (because who knows how certain fan attendance is in covid times) or the league and most every team will be insolvent.

So basically that was already the plan way before Covid, but the pandemic just gave a shot to this.

I have questions:

How many cities have NHL quality arenas ready to go?

Do they end up parking someone temporarily while waiting for a new home?

Normally, teams need some sort of league approval to relocate. Does that apply when you are made homeless?

Houston, Sacramento, and KC immediately come to mind. I would wager that they'll end up in Houston permanently.

Didn't have the Coyotes a plan to move back in downtown PHX anyway?

We also have a beautiful and useless UFO vessel that matches all NHL standards in QC City. But... no. Houston seems to be the front runner.

Blolz.

Only question is what to rename them?

Houston Harveys
Houston Mosquitos
Houston Humidity
Houston Traffic
Houston Football Team

There are plenty of options.

I'd go with Houston Nordiques just to anger Canadians.

The Houston Oilers.

*f-bomb* Edmonton. Make them change their name.
