So the question for these various guys who were traded is did they see a jump in production because the change of scenery did them good, because they play with better teammates, or because they are simply finally blossoming after getting a few seasons of NHL experience under their belts?

Well, there are probably a lot of reasons. Just getting out of Arizona could be one. Domi and Strome just didn't jibe with the coach and management there, for whatever reason. And then Montreal and Chicago upped both centers minutes to a healthy 17-min range, put them on the first and second lines instead of the fourth, and just trusted them to get it done.

Domi is a strange one because he’s playing pretty much the same amount as he did in Arizona. He didn’t get some huge boost in ice time or usage. Maybe he’s playing with better guys this season.

First line, no healthy scratches.

It's not like Arizona didn't get good players in return (Galchenyuk and Schmalz, who was good til he got injured). But that's TWO Seguin trades in one season for Chayka. Nill needs to get on that with whoeveer they have left, which is, uh.... Lawson Krouse? *f-bomb*.

Ducks just fired their shitty coach.... and replaced him with a stuffed suit who has never coached a day in his life.

That's some hardcore tanking.

IKR? If he doesn't lose every single game, he's done his job.

So has Edmonton run out of former players to make GM and they’re now on to brothers of former players? If that’s a glimpse into our future, then I look forward to the Bart Hull administration.

Among active players, Ovechkin has the most goals (shocker). What's insane is that he is number one and Marleau is number two, but Ovechkin has played almost 600 games less than Marleau.

Here's a little something I did for fun. Pulled straight from the NHL player stats page.

I looked at last season's counts of players by draft year, using >=55 games played to define a regular NHLer and <= 27 games played to define a fringe player. (The threshold was pretty arbitrary.)

What would you conclude from this data?

To me it looks like:
A) each draft year only about 20-ish players end up with long careers, about a dozen have short careers (about 6 years), and 10-ish have very short careers (3 years and out).
B) the age at which most players "make it" is at age 23.

Two years ago Ryan was the only one they actively wanted to trade.

I bet most if not all of those execs are still there, tho.

The Lightning have lapped the Senators in points. Tampa Bay has 102, Ottawa has 49.

The Islanders fans are going to seriously embarrass themselves tonight.

I hope he scores 3 hat tricks to shove it right back down their throats.
