Having played the fewest games in the NHL this season so far should have the Stars well-rested

Bet he's heading back down to Cedar Park. He's not a useful player at all.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Does this mean Radulov is healthy now, or are we going to give some other generic AHL guy a turn?

Depends. Usually, recovering from Novitchok poisoning takes a while and you have to go to a specialized clinic in Germany for some treatments.

The schedule reshuffling is done. Short answer: they're going to need to start experimenting with maintenance days. This is far more intense than the bubble's schedule.

Yeah - that schedule is ridiculous. Not blaming anyone, but that is brutal. And it also assumes no other games are postponed.

Good thing they’ll be safely eliminated from the playoffs at the rate they’re going and will be able to casually coast through the worst stretches.

What's the franchise record for longest in-season stretch between regular season wins? Asking for a friend.

Currently we're at 21 days. I found a 23-day stretch back in 2009-2010 but there was the Olympic break in between. Before that, it goes back to the Minnesota days where the team terribly sucked in the eighties. Got 21 days in 1989 and a probable 26 days record one year before that.

Bizarre that it's not during the "pesky" era.

6 games in the first 11 days of March. If I wanted to watch this many boring sporting events in such a short span, I'd be a baseball fan.

Apparently Jim Rutherford is open to working again. Thoughts from y'all on him?
I like that he seemed to be able to replace parts around two aging stars they couldn't get rid of. I didn't follow Pittsburgh super closely though... does he rely on vets too much like Nill?

Jim Rutherford thought Jack Johnson was worth a 5-year, $3.25MM AAV in 2018 so...hard pass.

Great point. I guess that could be question number one in an interview. Not that Nice Guy Nill will ever be fired.

Nill still has a couple of seasons left on his contract after this one. Bowness has one more season on his contract. Gaglardi isn't paying those guys not to work while also bringing in a new person with any name cache.

And this season being fake and really really hard gives the Stars even more of an excuse to be OK with another lost season.

Interview with Nill:
https://theathletic.com/2420804/2021/03/02/there-is-no-hot-seat-stars-gm-jim-nill-on-rick-bowness-struggling-offense-and-more/
No surprises. "Stay the course." I do like that Nill's answer to his poor roster construction and lack of offense is "play better."

"Aren't you worried about your offense sucking fat ass?"
"Actually, we're only below average (just don't look at our offense since the first four games)."

Saad mentioned it the other day, but I really wonder how much post-Covid syndrome is affecting some of the roster.

I'm fully on the "Miro is a covid long hauler" bandwagon. His legs aren't the same.

It's a good interview, but his answers entirely put every ounce of blame on the players. It's not coaching or the system. It's the players. He even made a point to say the players have been talked to about what they need to do better. Said Bowness has been great. This is the closest I've heard Nill echo the stuff Jim Lites said a couple of seasons ago.

Re: 2021 Stars Regular Season Thread
He's never going to say anything of worth in an interview. He's too nice to publicly throw specific people under the bus. So the easiest way out for him is to blame the players as a whole because that can be spread amongst all the guys and even then he can build in an excuse of lack of practices and such.

So Jamie Benn liked a Candace Owens post on instagram about protecting women from biological men in sports, and now the woke scold masses are trying to cancel him. Clown world.

This is why I do not do social media in any form except for this place. Social media is a stain on humanity.

I’d argue that humans are what’s mostly wrong with social media, but I think we’d arrive at the same conclusion regardless.
you don't realize that your pants are too long until you walk to get a taco in the rain.
