Coming back to the Stars would be great for Honka, not so great for whoever his defensive partner is.

Benn with the strange vague tweet.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

He has just learned that he was playing injured during the playoffs.

Probably due to this:

To be fair, vaguely confused is Benn’s default appearance.

I find it strange to think Benn is watching Nill’s press conference and tweeting about it.

I'm betting someone texted him about having surgery and it went from there.

Did he grow the 6 inches needed to reach “short for his age”?

One positive note from the Nill conference that we have overlooked here is Nill apparently being given the green light to spend to the salary cap. That's better than I was expecting.

Shapiro pointed out that it still means $78 or $79 or whatever because they have the bonus penalties they're eating next year.

Okay Debbie Downer!

Yeah, I know they had the bonus penalties - I'm just glad Gaglardi didn't impose an even more limited budget!

Johns’ hit is 2.35 million, so if he can’t play, likely, we’ll have some of that to work with as well.

I wonder if Johns will retire? Although from his standpoint, why retire when he could just be on LTIR and still get his salary (kinda like Hanzal did).

According to RDS it's official, Bowness will be back next season.

So does that mean Calgary overpays for Dobby and Dallas overpays for Talbot, instead of just signing your own damn players you like?

Re: 2020 Stars Off-Season Thread
For me the only reason the Stars would want to sign an experienced goalie (if Dobby signs elsewhere) is because they're afraid of Bishop's health so want more experience to rely on than Oettinger.
However, I'd say to give Oettinger the backup job and if Bishop has health issues you could always trade for some sort of experienced backup.
Speaking of trading... wonder if, with a condensed regular season, they have the trade deadline be closer to the playoffs.

I also think not all of these veterans are finding homes. If you start the season with Oettinger and find he can't do it, there will be a couple of guys to choose from looking for work.

I think Khudobin needs to see what's out there, and decide if the extra year is worth leaving what he knows is a really good situation.

Re: 2020 Stars Off-Season Thread
I wonder if a large factor for the older guys is whether they have to uproot their kids and start over in a new city.
I was thinking when Niskanen retired that maybe he just didn’t want to live in Philly anymore. Go back to DC where his kids have friends.

Not a fan of three years on that deal.

Hopefully Seattle takes him before this deal ends up like Niemi.
Also $8 million spent on two goalies both coming off surgery in the past few months, fantastic decision.

I like the signing.
I'm still "ok" with the value (understandable, given the circumstances).
I don't like the three years

The final two years of Bishop Khudobin feel like they will be Kari-Niemi all over.

I'm a little worried about it. The extra year and that Khudobin may have used up all his juju. And juju is not easy to come by at 34 yo.
