Good for both of them. When you look back on that '99 Cup winning team, there were a crap-ton of Hall of Famers on it.

And honestly, I think Lehtinen would be worthy, but he's probably marginal at best and if he ever did get selected it would likely be farther down the road. He was one of my favorites, so I'm biased.

So does Zubov’s # get retired now?

Best player in Dallas Stars history gets into the Hall. Good for him.

Carbo was also a very special player, and it's nice when a hall of fame recognizes more than points scored. Carbo won the Selke three times, had lots of post season success, was famous as all hell thanks to where he played (what got him booted to the Blues is a fun moment in 90s hockey history), played forever, and also had some decent time in coaching.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

I mean, reading that it makes you wonder why anyone would be been surprised to find Lites shitting on Stars players when here he was shitting on both Kevin and Derian Hatcher.

I have that book too. It's pretty cool.

I wonder what exactly the issue was with Kevin.

Ritchie was genetically designed to be a Bruin. He'll do a hell of a lot better in their system than he ever would here:

He may do a little better in their slow, grinding style, but he can’t keep up. No way he replaces Acciari, who was fantastic on their 4th line.

We were as slow and grinding as it got last year. Lindyball was years ago.

These are all reasonable developments; Modano is free to live his life however he wishes. But when it comes to long-term legacy, those decisions – particularly in the age of social media – have slightly tarnished what he built while wearing No. 9 for the Dallas Stars.

That's about right.

But, I think the article is too easy on him.

Holy crap. Ralph Strangis weighed in:

We were relevant, especially early, because we had Mike. We had Mike and other expansion (or in our case a relocated franchise) franchises didn’t have him or the equivalent. He was front and center on and off the ice. He was asked to do a lot and he did a lot. I know because I was out there with him and the others early and a bunch. And he was a major headliner on the ice. His resume speaks for itself. It’s correctly pointed out that it was a hockey decision by the Stars at the end and Mike wanted to play. Then he suffered a brutal injury in Detroit. I don’t worry about his legacy at all. I had a seat to see what he meant night in night out, season in season out, up and down. His post retirement is his business and shouldn’t be confused with what he accomplished for this team and city.

As a side note, I produced and directed some of those original commercials or image pieces (including Churla’s “terminator”). That spot was good and people liked it and Shane’s early fights endeared Shane to the early fans for a short time but Mike was in a different strata.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6954895/Retired-NHL-star-Neal-Broten-59-arrested-drunken-driving-charges.html

Neal Broten, a member of the 1980 gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic hockey team, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving near his Wisconsin home

He was released from jail on Monday morning after being cited for his third drunken driving offense and possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle

Broten is expected back in the Pierce County Courthouse on July 8

Reportedly no criminal complaint nor any other details will be released until after blood tests are returned, which can take between three and four weeks

Broten is one of two players to win an NCAA title, a gold medal, and a Stanley Cup. He was also the first recipient of the NCAA's Hobey Baker Award

The first American to register 100 points in an NHL season, Broten played 17 seasons in the league, primarily for his home state Minnesota North Stars

I always suspected the dude had a problem. He was clearly wasted the couple of times he was interviewed at Stars games recently.

Other than in Milwaukee, I always thought drinking and driving was de rigueur in Wisconsin.
