I live just down the street from the Big House in Ann Arbor and had a chance to go to the Winter Classic there back in 2014 but declined because it seems like the seats are all so far away that you can't see much.

That was very true. It was also stupidly cold. Also, the venue sucks. The concourses are too narrow to handle the number of people. It was a miserable expereince.
Might have been better with temperatures 20+ degrees warmer, but the bitter cold amplified every other inconvenience and annoyance.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

I heard horror stories of people urinating in the concourses because the lines to the bathrooms were so long. Glad I stayed home to watch it in my comfortable, warm house with my own bathroom and my own, much cheaper alcohol. lol

Alcohol? The most popular drink was hot chocolate.

I'm assuming 79,990 of those tickets were purchased by Blackhawks fans, right?

The Blackhawks weren't good this year so they don't have fans any more.

There are going to be some mad football fans when they realize they bought tickets for the wrong event at the Cotton Bowl.

I think it's stupid. It doesn't acknowledge the past of the Dallas STARS.
Who cares about some footnote minor league team from the 1500's?

I totally and fully subscribe to this.
I would have loved to see a throwback jersey with the original Stars logo and a color scheme that brought back the gold, Even with a brand new design.
The Flames did it right for the Heritage Classic.

I’m fine with it. Anything that makes clear our pre-1993 hockey heritage is about Dallas and not some northern tundra city.

I don’t really care about the logo, I just care that it has neck laces.

The North Star would have been a gigantic mistake for sure. I just wish they would acknowledge the original Dallas Stars. The Texans have nothing to do with this franchise and before the Stars co-opted their history, like 10 people even knew who they were.

I don’t think they should really do anything special for this likely below average quality regular season game.

Have they taken Subban off the big poster hanging outside the Cotton Bowl yet?

The logo is fine. It’s clean and simple. It could be better, but it could have been markedly worse.

Ours won't be much better with that Texans crap. Unless they design in a classic Dallas Stars design and put the Texans logo as the crest or something.

I like how they hearken back to Nashville's great old timey hockey culture from the 1890s.

That's the thing here. The Dallas Stars are on year 26 of existing and the Predators are on year 21. Yet they both feel the need to dig into their pre-NHL minor league history to find these jerseys. It kinda reeks of insecurity. Like they are looking to show off their hockey street cred since every prior Winter Classic participant was a team that was at least 20+ years older.

Did even Nashville has a pre-NHL hockey history, whatever it is ?
I think they weren't allowed to go with the mustard yellow/silver/navy throwback concept due to evident rules of human decency.

Yep. I think most people would have loved a 90's throwback for both clubs. They're both missing the mark here. I'm not surprised from the Dallas side. They routinely *poo poo* the bed with this type of stuff.
