My totally off the wall Bobrovsky theory: Either he called Seth Jones the N word after the loss or called a closeted gay patient a gay slur.

Maybe he spurned Tortorella's amorous advances.

Or the Islanders might actually be pretty good.

With John Tavares scoring 29 goals and 50 points for the Maple Leafs after the Islanders foolishly failed to get anything in return for him, the Islanders are four points behind Tavares' new team with a game in hand and beat them 4-0 in Toronto 17 days ago.

I'm rooting for the Isles this season. They are a good team. Maybe it's that collective, eff Tavares thing, but I especially like Lee and his leadership since being named Captain. And I've always liked Barry Trotz. His leave from the Caps after winning the Cup is ballsy.

Saw this on reddit:

William Nylander has as many points this season as Jaroslav Halak. 3.

Ducks traded Luke Schenn to Vancouver for Del Zotto; Aberg to the Wild for Kloos; and Blandisi to the Penguins for Derek Grant.

They are still actively trying to get rid of their scrubs after the Cogs/Shore trade, so why aren’t we? Even with this 12 game losing streak they are still on par with the Stars LOL. Man, it would have been sweet if they had taken Brett Ritchie off of our hands so that he could play with Nick.

EDIT: Maybe we are.

Also, don’t look now but the Blues are making a legit push on the strength of Binnington taking the starting job from Allen.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

That’s only one less point than Honka with five less games played ...

Man, the Ducks have churned over four dudes in the past week.

They weren't kidding when it comes to changing things up. I don't think the total of all of these moves makes the team any better now or in the future. They got a bit younger in a couple of spots, I guess. With the cap and no trade clauses, I guess there's only so much you can do to shake up a team, but I'll give them credit for trying something.

Man, it must be nice to have a team that doesn't *f-bomb* around with public flogging of players if its looking for a culture change, and just goes out and starts shipping people out.

They moved around a lot of nothing today, honestly. Schenn's in the AHL, Blandisi was in the AHL, and Aberg was a waiver claim who, while scoring, seems to have other issues.

They got back a bottom pair UFA LD in MDZ, and an AHL forward in Derek Grant, who used to be Ducks property. And Kloos is a former college player who is STILL in the AHL.. at 25, so I don't think there's much hope there.

So, a big shuffling of inflatable deck chairs brought out to entertain the media.

Yeah its the major guys on the Ducks who are failing, not these small fry.

Speaking of which, Shore jumped into a top6 role with the Ducks in his first game, logging 19 minutes. No points, tho.

Shore is actually a decent skater. Just doesn’t have that extra little bit to get it done.

Which is weird because he had really good numbers in the AHL. I think he may have contracted a virus or something.

Some blogger dude compiled a bunch of stats comparing production from guys at the AHL level and after they moved to the NHL level. On average, a dude's NHL numbers will be 0.47 of his AHL total. So when you see a Stars prospect putting up good numbers in the AHL over a couple of seasons, know those are likely to translate to just ok numbers in the NHL.

I’ve never figured out a way to get easy access to AHL stats, so I haven’t done anything nearly detailed as that. I’ve spot checked a few player histories, though, and those numbers are pretty close to my very casual analysis. Every move up to a higher league was a drop of 1/3 to 1/2 in points.

Hockeydb does a great job of keeping AHL stats, but I have no idea if you can export their data.

An easier way for me is to just wait for them to play in the NHL and then see if they score.

Good, this means that Fatbert Robertson will step into the NHL as a 29 goal scorer.

Apparently, one of this guy's chirps to Crosby was "Evegeni Malkin would have more Cups if he had a better supporting cast."

That's tremendous.
