Not only does that lead the OHL, but outpaces the entire rest of his team, who have combined for 6 goals so far.

Now look up the stats on the most recent first round pick.

Maybe in three years after he chunks up and then goes to fat camp and loses it all, he’ll finally be able to be productive at the junior level.

I remember all the false hope I had for Smith when he did something similar.

Is a goal per game in the OHL a reliable litmus test for determining who will eventually be a top 14 forward?

No idea, but I think the more impressive stat is how he's outscoring his entire team. He also has 0 assists to go with his 8 goals, which is also a pretty strong indicator that he's the only real player on that entire squad.

He's probably such a lardo he doesn't make it back to the defensive zone.

I look at it this way: OHL stats won't tell you if a guy is going to be great in the NHL, but they can tell you if he's going to be bad in the NHL. It's like a prerequisite to NHL success. If you can't be awesome in the OHL, there's no way you're going to be awesome in the NHL.

10 games in, and Tubby Robertson is still outscoring the rest of his team, 13-11. He also finally has three assists, which is really not going to help him outscore his teammates when it all comes down to it.

Saw this tweet and got sad because it made me realize a constant of the Jim Nill era is the Stars not having players on lists like this. It's no surprise why they have no depth scoring.

Was Klingberg the only recent one ever to be on a list like that?

Really, that list reads like a bunch of rebuilding teams or teams in cap hell.

Right there with every one of them. These are teams who have drafted in the top half of the first round more often than not and have plenty of ice time to give to young players who can contribute. The difference is their picks are producing points in the NHL while our picks are producing excuses.

Relative to teams who have similar records of missing the playoffs, Dallas has to have the worst prospect pipeline in the league.

You forgot to say "has failed to reach the playoffs in 8 of the past 10 seasons." That's not a bubble team, that's a bad team.

We could have a pretty sweet playoff bubble bath with all the playoff bubbles we've accumulated over the years.

80% of those bad teams have literally nothing to do with this year's team. You could even argue that this year's Kari-free version has almost nothing to do with last year's team, which was playoff-bound until Bishop went down.

I don't know why you guys are all bellyachin'. For the first time like, ever, we've got four of the 20 most exciting players in the entire NHL, the best d-man in the Western Conference, and possibly another one on the way. Our pipeline has actual scorers and goalies, instead of Yared Hagos. And we're playing uptempo hockey again, instead of Hitch's four-goalie system. So we lost to some overachieving Eastern teams. So what? We absolutely cleaned Winnipeg's clock in our only actual four-point game so far.

We do have some good players that have come thru the draft. But there have been quite a few misses as well. Am sure that's the case with most teams. But Miro is going to be awesome sauce, that's a coup and he's just 19 years old.

Those teams have a lot to do with this team. Their failures put the Stars in some nice draft positions, but nothing much was done with those picks.

The roster now is full of those picks (Nichushkin, Dickinson, Hint, Shore, Smith, Ritchie, and Faksa), but none of those forwards are contributing any offense. That's a lot of draft picks spent from years of bad teams, and those guys don't like like they have any real potential to generate offense in the NHL. Janmark was added when one of those bad teams sold its veteran forward as a rental, and he's also in the not contributing bucket.

Great. A decade of *poo poo*, and all the only goal scorer to speak of is a dude who probably won't make the team until 2020.

I like your enthusiasm Todd, but the best d-man in the Western Conference? Really? Subban, Burns, Karlsson, Josi, Pietrangelo and even Doughty all may like to have a word with you.

I'd take Klingberg over any of those guys, considering his skill set, age, contract, and on-ice results.

A lot of our problems would be solved if only Klingberg would step up and score 2 goals every night. But he stubbornly refuses to do so.
