TC 2017

Postby B Kat » Tue Sep 05, 2017 3:14 pm

Looks like Miro Heiskanan will not be taking part in the tourney this year. Disappointed!

But, we do get to see the Roope Hintz. Gurianov is there again, and he should be dominant this year. Jason Robertson is playing too.

No Oettinger, as he is a college player and they do not participate in this tourney. But we do have Brodeur in net. :)
Must be a fillin, but he is the child of Marty, so...

Starts on Friday, 9/8. Will be broadcast on Fox Sports Go and at Detroit Red Wings site.

The 7-2 final score wasn't quite as bad as that. Often times, in the early games of the tourney, teams don't have it together. The Stars didn't have it together. Offensively they spent a lot of time in Columbus' end, but it didn't equate to much. The Stars top, line, Hintz, Gurianov and Cammano looked good, speedy, controlled the puck. One goal against was a total fluke, went up almost to the netting and in off the back of the goalie, one was a give away, and one was an empty net, but Dallas' defense, team and and otherwise, wasn't very good, and the goalie, Landon Bow could have been a lot more tidy. Still, liked their ability to move the puck.

Stars in mid-season form, Stars were up 6-3 in the 3rd period and lose 7-6 in Overtime.

Sounds like Landon Bow is ready for immediate NHL duty.

Yeah, same old Stars, I guess. Started the game in their own end, for half of the first. And they actually defended pretty well. Then they started scoring goals. Progress. It was a much better game defensively and they were coming together. Scoring goals help, more hugs. ;). They just couldn't sustain it long enough. St. Louis was coming pretty hard the whole game, quite physical, and they earned those three goals in the third. They have a few nice prospects and they took over. It was a painful outcome, after they're doing so well in many parts of the game.

It's seems ridiculous to say this was the Stars best game, another's loss, this time 4-2 to Minnesota. But the team did play their best game. The first period was controlled by the Stars, but the score was 1-0 Minnesota. Minny scored on a two man advantage, (not technically, but it was just as the 1st penalty expired). Baby Broduer was very good, not all scambly. Ton o shots, 34-32 Dallas. Gurianov, wasn't atop the scoreboard, though he did score on a nice breakaway today, but he consistently made the right plays. He wasn't a liability. Roope was a man. His stride was immense, good shot, strong on the puck. He's going to be interesting. On D, I liked Hansson, Nyberg and Bayruether. Dries, undrafted, signed with Texas, was noticible. Not too big, but on the puck, good defensively. Pesky. Prolly an AHLer, but maybe that work ethic gets him somewhere. Robertson playing with Gurionov and Hintz these last two games had two assists today.

So 1 point out of a possible 9, not a great outcome. Still seems like a lot of decent talent out there.

Fourth time the charm, I guess. It wasn't the Stars best game, but they won, 4-1 over NY. While the tourney is mainly about evaluation & development, winning is still nice.

Gurianov had a hat trick, third goal an empty netter, but it was unassisted. Hintz looks NHL ready, so we'll see how he does in training camp.

As the third period wound down, the Stars held a 1 goal lead, and NY, who really wasn't very good (outside of their goalie), stared to push and I thought here we go again. But they hung on, and Gurianov scored the EN. Landon Bow also was much better, not many rebounds, some decent saves. And he was under siege for six or seven minutes in the third. Hurray, right?

I'd much rather see Gurianov or Hintz on our fourth line than the ghost of Umberger.

I don't know. These players need minutes, in all situations. The 4th line doesn't provide that. Give them more time in the AHL, until they force their way onto a top line or are necessary for an injury fill in.

Gurianov looks like a point guard from some mountain school like Boise State or Gonzaga.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.
