That's a steep price to pay, but when you have cancer you will do almost anything to get rid of it.

*poo poo*. I'd give them Kari for free and pay his entire salary just to get him off the *fargin'* team. Of course, we essentially have 2 of the same problem with Niemi so...

Why give up a draft pick? Just buy out Niemi and take a $1.5MM cap hit for this year and next. Big deal.

Yeah, Kari might actually be totally serviceable as a backup playing against the Avs and Sabres. No pressure, utterly meaningless games, etc etc.

And if Bishop gets hurt, I'd rather have Kari than Niemi in net.

Re: (Las) Vegas Golden Knights
Now, this would be a little complicated, but if Vegas stole one or two quality backups from teams like the Caps/Rangers/Penguins, THEN traded said backup to Dallas for Kari and the 28th pick...

I was being overly ambitious. My proposal includes not eating any of Kari's salary when you trade him to Vegas, so you buy out Niemi. Then you sign an actual competent backup.

It would be so fantastically sinister to drape that albatross over the necks of the NHL's newest suckers.

I don't trust Nill to sign a competent backup.
But, to be fair, the last competent backup we had was Mike Smith if I remember correctly. That was nearly 10 years ago.

Well if we had just one competent backup in the past 10 years he would have been the starter ...
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

Guess what?
All our incompetent backups the past 10 years: still better than Kari Lehtonen.

Tap the brakes. I hate Kari, but I don't know if he's worse than Tobias Stephan or Brent Krahn.

I don't even know who the *f-bomb* the second guy you mentioned is. The only thing I know about this Krahn fellow, really, is that he is much better than Kari Lehtonen.

Because he played like 3 games for us. You were probably playing Civilization during that time or something.

Ok I Googled it. He played one NHL game. For us. In 2008-2009. His GAA was 9.
Wow.
Still a better... well... ok fine.

It will be surprising to have Vegas be the most French Canadian team in the league.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

French Canadian players practically expose themselves.
