Expanded offense role
While Risebrough said Miettinen will be looked upon to score, the lack of it so far in his NHL career is not a concern.
"He wasn't put in as many situations down there because of the number of players they had," general manager Doug Risebrough said. "But clearly, he was a guy they would use in a secondary capacity. I don't think it's a slant on him as it was what they were trying to do with other players. Or, it just shows his versatility." Rotoworld

That phrase is really the gift that keeps on giving.

A respectable 3rd line player who worked his ass for for the Stars?
I know he frustrated the hell out of people, but come on, the guy gave this team a lot and I'm pleased he's getting some props from people in Minnesota.

Me too!
When seconds count, the police are just minutes away defunded. You're on your own.
80 Million gun owners didn't kill anyone yesterday.
37,000 of those gun deaths annually are suicides. Problem solved.

It's not like I would have re-signed the guy, but he doesn't deserve a boot in the ass from the community either.

It's not that the Wild's GM expects him to come in and score goals. It's at least the fifth time he's mentioned it.
I'm not sure why Risebrough is saying he's going to come in and score goals, which isn't going to happen he shows all these great offense abilities in practice.
Quick release and a accurate shot, then when the game starts he doesn't show the same offense ability. He either takes his shooting or shoots way too early so it misses the net.

"Offensive", Jason. That's the word. "Offense", when used, becomes "offensive". See how that works?

Really, Doug? So wedging him in the second line for tons of minutes two seasons in a row isn't an offensive situation?
No matter how you try to crap that square peg in a round hole, it's never going to work. Once you lower your expectations, you find that he's a nice player.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

I thought Mietts was all right here. He actually scored some nice goals for us too over the past few years.

I thought Niskanen was too busy with training camp for a social life?

God, thank you, slaps. I left that door wide open and nobody was up to the challenge.

That's just a big misconception.
