So the Caps dumped Niskanen for a guy skating on their third pair? Harsh.

That was a very stupid challenge by Monty. It was easy to see the first time I saw the replay that it wasn't a hand pass. Someone fucked up in the video room.

I'm glad Shapiro is around. He's the only reporter since I started watching the Stars back in the 90's who doesn't just kiss ass.

Also, this is not a good hockey team. At all.

I'm guessing Nill is fired by game 10. What do you guys think?

Stars need one more garbage goal with ten seconds left to keep their one-goal-game streak alive.

Empty net for the Stars is basically a powerplay. Seems like a bad idea give their *poo poo* PP.

Monty sounds both pissed and almost clueless on how to get his team to start a game better. This is basically the same as last year. So either he sucks as a coach or the "core" group of guys are just not the right group.

It's the players.
They are slow, can't pass and play too slow.
No reason the powerplay should be so awful.

Exact same players were fast and dynamic and scored a lot under a different coach.

There's not a lot of those players left.
Benn and Seguin are both slower then they were under Ruff.

Benn is no longer special. His contract is terrible. Most surprising is how he’s lost his hands. Don’t know why his shot and touch with the puck are gone.

Pavelski isn’t very good. Even when he does some things well, his immobility holds him back. This contract looks bad already.

Radulov looks like he aged several years over the summer. How he went from the best season of his career to this is amazing, but he’s entered his mid 30s.

Klingberg can’t get his shot on net. He’s struggling with the puck a lot. I think he needs to get his teeth fixed.

Seguin is looking like a bad investment at $10 million a season for weak perimeter play from a guy who has clearly lost a step. He might not even be in the top five fastest guys on his own team. He’s not a threat coming up ice at all. His hands are still nice, but he’s turning into a dude who is only useful for his one timer.

That’s mot all of the cap space giving you absolutely nothing to start the season.

Those players you’re talking about were also in their early and mid 20s five years ago as well.

Yes and whose fault is it that we have this group of players? Jim Nill....

Miro looks like a pretty nice player, but he fades into the background a lot and seems content to just be a steady player who doesn’t *f-bomb* up, not the game-breaking Lidstrom he’s been sold to us as. Sophomore slumps happen, but I’d like to see a lot more from him before I back the Brinks truck up to his door.

And who could’ve thought projecting Sekera and Oleksiak to be everyday players before any injuries hit wouldn’t turn out well.

I think this is going to be a long year.

I’m fine with Miro being what he is, but you would like to see him do more in the offensive zone with the puck. I think he kinda needs to stop passing and be greedy. He’s playing very safe and trying to find other guys too much.

The contracts were terrible when they were signed, and I think they were literally hamstrung. They're literally paid to sell tickets and look pretty. They had won absolutely nothing for this team, have one scoring title between them, and now they're going to coast to keep the injuries from really piling up. In fact, their play being just good enough kept this team from actually tanking hard enough to get more than one lottery pick, and that was probably gifted to them by the NHL.

As for the good reasons...

Benn's wrists are probably toast.
Seguin's Achilles' injury ruined his speed.
Radulov? Dunno he's just out of it. Probably due to the lack of puck possession and miserable production from his linemates.
Pavelski looks downright awful. His speed is miserable, he can't handle the puck, and his positioning is incredibly questionable.

The defense is still bad, and now the forwards can't keep that from being very evident too...
