He had 30 goals this season and 27 last, all while playing the "shutdown center" role. Yeah, it's the OHL, but we're not talking QMJHL inflation. Those are solid Potential Third Liner numbers.

Whatever the odds of him being a NHL player are, the fact the team is letting him walk solely over a very small amount of money is disturbing. Teams need a big pool of prospects. You never know how guys will develop or stay healthy enough to get a shot.

Is this for cost savings? Is this because of how Jackson handled Gaglardi's desire to insult the players last season? Is it a signal of a bigger change of direction in the organization?

Who knows.

11. For almost 35 years, Les Jackson’s been a Star. Hired as an assistant coach when the franchise was still in Minnesota in 1985, he stayed with the organization every season but one since. His contract will not be renewed. End of an era, for sure. He’s been a huge part of that organization’s success.

Article on The Athletic today confirms it is cost savings.

lol the Stars are so bad at offense. The leading goal scorer as of the pause had 20 goals. That's absolutely terrible.

And the lowest team goal leader in the league.

Looks like Polak is done in Dallas. Bowness being a terrible coach may have inadvertently helped the Stars.

The only reason he played a lot the previous season is because Johns couldn't play and Honka sucked, so I don't think he should have been surprised to see him lose his gig when Johns was finally able to play.

But I get it. Not a lot of a point to risk coming back to the US to ride the bench for and during a playoff run all for a very small amount of money. He knows no team is going to offer him an NHL contract next season, so he doesn't even have that to play for.

Especially if he plans to live there long term. It would be different if he was hoping to retire and live in the US or something.

But I do like that he spoke his mind and didn't hide behind "what's best for my family". He said it bothered him and I respect and like him for that. While I was never a huge fan of his play, he always seems like a funny, nice dude.

As an aside, I kinda hate it when writers basically write an entire article via twitter. Share the main point of a scoop, then write an article to elaborate. One, Twitter is a shitty way to read a bunch of connected information. Two, why give your work away for free?

Because it is obvious that the increasing air traffic will lead chemtrails to generate a deadly Covid second wave that will wipe us out of the world. So let's do some good before we all die this fall.

But that's just my assumption.

Setting a google alert for every Stars player’s name and running some Euro tweet through google translate hardly counts as “work.”

Shapiro will probably have a more in-depth follow up on The Athletic soon enough.

Since Polak is going home to be with a Czech team, would that be like a Soviet union?

I've grown very tired of all these big companies and organizations making these statements. I bet most of them don't actually believe in this message. They're just covering their PR asses. They all feel disingenuous.

I'm sure the Stars aren't pro racism. But are they going to actually do anything to be against it outside of posting statements? Likely not, which is what makes the statements a bit hollow.

Of COURSE they're actually going to do something. They're going to wrap their sticks in special tape to further virtue signal.
