Interesting notes on Radulov:

https://theathletic.com/1435865/2019/12 ... y-scratch/

Radulov has had authority issues throughout his career and lives by his own set of rules. That isn’t a new development in Dallas.

Last season, Radulov was benched for a period for talking back to Montgomery and was later scratched for being late to a team meeting. Those things happened in a season when Radulov started as an alternate captain and had the letter taken away from him.

In practice, he often cuts others in line for a drill and looks like he isn’t paying attention while the coach goes over drills on the whiteboard. At morning skate Thursday, he spent time by himself on one end of the ice shooting pucks while the Stars worked on special teams on the other end.

That spills over to games, as Radulov takes exceptionally long shifts on the power play, which got him moved to the second unit earlier this season. And Radulov was a source of frustration on the power play earlier this season. It was stale, and part of that was the overreliance by Radulov and John Klingberg on trying to force the same play over and over.

The Stars can live with those things when Radulov is on pace for 70-plus points and when he’s rescuing them with a hat trick against the Minnesota Wild, as he did in October. That’s when it’s OK for coaches or teammates to laugh and just say it’s “Rads being Rads.”

But when Radulov has zero points in his last four games and the Stars are losing, it is hard to let one player live by his own set of rules.

Heard on the TVA Sports evening show that Monty labelled Radulov as "soft".

In this article at DBD this morning:

https://www.defendingbigd.com/2019/12/1 ... oaltending

It basically says we have a better record against bad teams than good teams. But we still have a winning record (11-10) against good teams so far, which includes playing 7 of our first 9 games against playoff teams) (and yet also somehow losing to Detroit). Btu there's also this little nugget:

If you go back to Ken Hitchcock’s season, things were even more lopsided. In 2017-18, the Stars were a woeful 13-22-5 against playoff teams, but a bottom-feeder-beating 29-10-3 against teams that did not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Not to draw conclusions from one season of data, but one wonders if Hitchcock’s scheme was more suited for taking advantage of mistakes than for running teams out of the building.

In conclusion: *f-bomb* Hitch.

To counterbalance that, Radulov might now label Monty as "hard".

This was good, but you’re deducted a point for setting up your own joke.

Most coaches are terrified of doing away with morning skates because they are afraid of the blowback should their team lose.

I agree with Bowness. It's probably helpful to get out there and skate around lightly for a while to warm up but practicing on the same day as a game has always struck me as stupid.

I agree with Bowness if the Stars win. If they don't, I disagree.

TSF believed in the Russian light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.... And one fine morning-- So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Did Jim Nill enjoy introducing his eventual replacement?

Based on the interviews he did a couple of weeks ago, I’d say he’s slightly less fluent in English than Jere Lehtinen.

So if, and it's obviously a huge if, the Stars win the Cup this year, would Bowness just retire? Seems like the best possible way to go out.

What if he went on a month long bender like Ovechkin?

Well he made it very clear in his first press conference he didn’t even want the job. He’s too old for this *poo poo* and prefers a secondary coaching job. This will be his last season as head coach no matter what.

I honestly don't think Perry really intended to do what he did. I know in the past he has done lots of *poo poo* on purpose, like cup checking Benn in 2014, but I doubt he's stupid enough to do that in the first shift of the outdoor game.

Well, they had a heavy hand on that one. And more than $40k for the fine.

He definitely didn't do that on purpose, but like your stick you're responsible of your body, hence your elbow.

And when you spent 1,000 games spearing, elbowing, and cup checking your way through your career, you aren't getting a free pass.

Let's be honest: should elbowing a Nashville Predator even be a penalty in this league?
