Also sounds like a bunch of young players won't be eligible to play in the "playoffs," which is so very NHL. Young exciting players that fans might want to see? Can't have that!

They might also need the bodies if a number of vets stay home and refuse to play.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Edmonton? I guess because there's nothing else to do so the players won't go out and about?

Yeah, maybe this sports thing isn't going to happen. MLS's bubble efforts didn't work.

Yeah - I think this is going to be an f'ing disaster. Heard on the Ticket today the NY Jets were already offering season ticket holders the option to get a refund or defer their 2020 tickets to 2021. I think its possible some sports start, but I'm going to be surprised if any of them finish the way they think the will.

Not that Gaglardi would shell out the cash to do so, but it looks like the free pass buyouts aren't part of the new CBA.

Doesn't seem like the athletes would be in much danger, but it spreads so quickly there will at some point be a big outbreak and you're gonna have to shut down for a few weeks.

I would think coaches could social distance.

MLS had 0 cases amongst it's players until they all went to Orlando to begin ramping up for the season. As of a couple of days ago, despite precautions, they now have 7.

Why are teams picking Florida of all places for this *poo poo*?

I would think everyone, players included, would be in danger. How are they going to truly contain it? What about the people in the hotel they come into contact with - how are they going to guarantee they aren't off doing blow without a mask in a club bathroom the second they leave work?

They are absolutely putting lives in danger to offset the lost revenue and fulfill TV obligations.

I enjoyed the one suggestion I heard, which is make players in the hub cities host opposing team members. How about Brad Marchand staying with Mitch Marner?

Even in these bubbles, there are going to be cleaning people and cooks who leave the bubble every time their work day ends.

No because Buttman already made protocols to prevent the virus to cross the bubble barrier in both directions. Everybody will be fine.

Eh, you can't "truly contain it" here. It's scientific consensus that's it much too widespread. You're just trying to slow the spread and buy time by being reasonable. No huge gatherings. Try to avoid others. Etc.

Barring a cure, it's going to go through all those people you mentioned no matter what. We just need to make sure there are enough hospital beds when it does.

No one is truly ever in a bubble, of course, but this one doesn't seem like that big a super spreader situation for fall. Although football has A LOT of players and teams. Still, I think there are some ways to isolate players within reason. So many livelihoods are depending on this.

I wasn't referring to hockey. I think hockey some more inherent concerns like being indoors and having coaches stand right there on the bench .. etc.

Sorry. I'm just not very excited about this. Games in foreign arenas with no fans? Sounds like olympic hockey to me. Boring.

Also, if the Stars do actually win it all, there will be another asterisk next to their win. Two asterisked wins is too many for my liking.

Hockey in August with no fans in Hub cities, yeah this Buttman shitshow sucks.

However, the Stanley Cup winner will have some sort of an asterisk, but only because the format was different, not because they deserve it less. That will be hell of a challenge for all teams: going of all a sudden far from everything and having to play playoff hockey right now with no incentive and finding motivation in that context. The mental aspect could be even greater than in standard series mode. At the end, your name will be on the cup and I think that's all that matters even if the way to win it was weird.

Cancel the *Dang ol'* season, if necessary start the next one later on with a shortened regular season (like in 2012-2013) hoping that all this Covid *poo poo* is controlled at that time. and go with a full normal play-off modus operandi. But I understand the business side, trying to save what could be saved economically speaking.

Nevertheless I will be faithful to myself, being a opportunistic coward prick doubled by a little customer *goddess* that will sit on my principles and watch this thing starting in August as if nothing happened.

I don't get a lot out of a crowd when I'm watching a game on TV. An intense crowd makes playoff games more fun to watch, but the great majority of games I watch are regular season games* and those aren't exactly full of loud crowd involvement for the most part.

I already paid for NHL.tv for this season, so I might as well watch (assuming I don't have to pay extra to watch this *poo poo*)

That's more a function of Stars coaching than anything.

I'll take it. A star is basically an asterisk anyways. It's our thing.

I think Jamie Benn is pretty unfit to play.
