Ottawa and Boston are really damn good at drafting.

That 2008 draft was amazing. After Stamkos all the forwards were trash, while potential HoF-caliber d-men were a dime a dozen.

The 2012 draft also looks surprisingly weak in hindsight.

Uhhh....

https://triblive.com/sports/john-steige ... ng-silent/

Evander Kane needs to mind his own business.

Kane plays left wing for the San Jose Sharks, and he’s black.

And Canadian.

And how much credibility does a Canadian have when he says nothing has changed in hundreds of years? I know Canada is way up there in the frozen north, but you would think, by now, word would have reached Evander that America elected a black president 12 years ago. And then re-elected him four years later.

That was considered a pretty big change.

I don't think this went over as well as USA Hockey thought it would - read the comments.

The Senators and their charitable foundation are breaking up. I don't think I've ever heard of this happening before.

Terrific news for Pitt, although I'm not sure of the need to advise us all of a player who was in contact with absolutely no one once having had the covid.

It is humorous how it looks like a #BLM vaguery about to start.

https://ottawasun.com/opinion/columnist ... -messy-one

Melnyk has long agitated for more say in the foundation’s operations, including deciding where all the money goes after the bills are paid. He wants to broaden the list of prospective recipients beyond local youth-related programs that are currently funded to embrace causes closer to his own heart, like organ donation awareness. That’s not surprising, given that he narrowly survived a liver transplant in 2015. But the manner in which he is going about it has a growing number of community leaders worried and angry.

The team recently warned the Sens Foundation that it will either start marching to Melnyk’s drum or be replaced by a new charitable organization that will. Last week, the foundation’s voluntary board of directors, which prides itself in its independence providing community oversight, responded with a polite “No thanks.”

Read the whole thing for some serious allegations regarding Melnyk's other charity.

Like taking in a million and paying out $5000? That's an even worse ratio than United Way.

That's how a bunch of private foundations work in the U.S. They are a huge racket. They're only required by the IRS to pay out 5% of their assets each year, and since all of a foundation's assets are invested, it means all they're really doing is paying out their investment returns each year. It's stupid.

An uber rich person can "donate" $1 million to their private foundation and enjoy the full benefit of that donation as a tax exemption right now, but with only 5% needing to be paid out of the foundation to actual charity, it will often take upwards of 20 years or so before the public ever sees $1 million worth of charity from the foundation. It's a sweet deal for rich people. There are billions of dollars that were written off as charitable donations sitting in bank accounts doing very little for charity thanks to these private foundation rules.

Considering all of the recent move to kneel to show support, is saying "we stand" kind of a hidden *f-bomb* you?

Agree. Next step, banish the canadian anthem in english version right now and keep only the french version.

Wait... the french one also refers to colonialism and segregation when Cartier invade First Nations territory. So banish both.

Did you know that the flag the Americans left on the moon has been so bombarded with solar radiation that’s it’s surely completely white by now?

So now it looks like the French have been there.
