It was a good one, too.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Yes, the Stars were terrible last night but it's nothing compared to the swimming session of the Leafs vs. Carolina.

The Canes are playing from the mid second period with the 42-year old Zamboni guy of the Toronto Marlies in goal who jumped in with royal blue pants. And he got the win.

That's not even an embarrassment for the Leafs, it's a total and unconditional humiliation.

Attended the Bruins @ Canucks game tonight. Got to see Chara try to fight Myers. That was a big crash when they went down.

Also got to see an old friend.

It doesn't seem you have gotten the worst seats...

Did you also check Roussel, the other old friend ?

The Carolina/TO game was awesome. The emergency goalie gave up two goals on his first two shots, it was like oh boy, but the Canes came out in the third, held the Leafs down and the goalie just settled in and made the saves. Good for him.

Your game looked like a real riot, Troy. 9-3! Watched the first period of that one, guess it went off the rails.

I thought Eriksson retired. Isn't he like 80?

Did your glass seat have a speaker that played Vivaldi the entire time?

Second row, sir.

Funny thing is these were far cheaper than most seats in the lower bowl when I went to buy them a couple of weeks ago. They had this massive green circle on SeatGeek, and I was convinced I was being scammed. But no. Guess some guy was in a hurry to dump them, and I was lucky to look when I did.

The arena crew came by during intermission and pasted new banners on the boards on the side of the ice facing the cameras. I guess they are now selling board ads by period.

Kovalchuk didn't cost much.

Why wouldn’t the caps have just signed him a month ago when he was a UFA?

Probably because a 3rd pick is cheaper than a $700k-deal. They waited 'till the Kovalchuk hype fade away (1 point in his last 7 games I think), clever from the Caps.

Habs are also retaining 50% salary on a league minimum contract.

LA, MTL, WSH, and who else? New Jersey from his original monster deal when he “retired?”

Correct. The Devils are taking a small cap recapture penalty of $250k per season until the 2024-2025 season. They are on season 7 of the 12 season recapture penalty plan.

So three NHL teams are paying Kovalchuk NOT to be on their team.

With that in mind, a 3rd rounder seems a little high.

A lone wolf just came by and whispered in my left ear:

It was some sort of military appreciation night, but that coat looked like it was for duck hunting. Good for him, though, that’s confidence. He might add it to his rotation since they Avs got the win. Sabres’ gave it their plucky best, but CO was clearly the better team.

Watched the second half of that game. Buffalo definitely had their chances to tie it up.

The more frustrating game was the Tuesday night Chicago/St. Louis game. What a wild back and forth! Was hoping the Blackhawks would do the Stars a solid.

Given the record, I think being above .850 is pretty amazing.

Those numbers are bad but they’re only marginally worse than Kari numbers. He should’ve accidentally gotten at least one win in that stretch.

5 goals allowed on 17 shots tonight before being pulled. It's not getting better, but longer.
