Yeah, but even if there was an inside joke that all of the principals would laugh off, it ceases to be an inside joke when you say it on a widely available public medium. And as Troy points out, when you are talking about a co-worker, that amps the scrutiny up even more.

She also did say she wasn't comfortable with it.

Yeah. I thought about it further. I agree with you. It was wrong.

My point about SJWs was more general and I still stick by it. But, this case is not in the same category.

She probably wasn't comfortable with it, but also, when asked by reporters about it, is she supposed to say "No, I'm fine with it" knowing that she'd then be raked over the coals by other women? So I think it's quite hard to really know what she thinks about it.

Difference between reality and perception.

When asked who would you have as a goalie for a game #7 playoffs, one third of the 400-player sample would go with Price. I put the voting percent with the playoffs record, the game #7 record, save percentage, goals-against average and number of cups.

Well, in terms of saves and GAA, all the top-5 goalies have similar numbers, with Rask being a bit over the top. On the other hand, Price is the only one to have am overall loser record. Binnington's number should be taken with care (only played one season) but he hasn't lost a game #7.

Altogether, I would go with Rask, then Fleury.

Did you calculate this in MS-DOS?

That "Home of the Blues" *poo poo* the Blues fans do is moronic. It sounds ridiculous when they scream "blues" over the word "brave." Cringey.

These jerseys in the women’s US vs Canada game are stupid? Where are the national colors? What moron put one team in white and another in black?

You know, I love Al MacInnis. But we don’t need the league lying to us about him still hitting 100.4 mph at age 56.

Just the final output through an R console. Old platforms are like MILFs: no that fancy at first sight, but experienced, reliable, and still have a lot under the hood.

It's not black, but dark grey. Otherwise the jerseys would have been dismissed due to racism. For the rest, it's part of the cancel culture I guess. They just put some little colors on the flags just to be LGBT+-compliant.

However, the women 3-3 was the only interesting game taken seriously with real engagement in this bullshit week-end.

https://theathletic.com/1564480/2020/01/27/penguins-gm-jim-rutherford-is-ready-to-make-a-trade-the-goal-is-to-win-now/

It's nice to read an interview with a GM who is candid and not Nill with his wishy-washy mumbly bullshit.

The Penguins are still prioritizing a top-six winger before the Feb. 24 deadline and, given Rutheford’s history, the Hall of Fame general manager will strike before the deadline.

“If the right one is out there, then yes, that’s what we’re looking at,” Rutherford said. “I’m not sure if I’d feel that way if Jake were healthy. But Jake’s not healthy. Ideally I’d like to give us more depth and more options in the top six. Can we do that, in terms of the right style of player and the right cost? That’s the ultimate question, but we are looking into it.”

There are classic “rental players” expected to be available, a group that is headlined by Rangers power forward Chris Kreider. Other players, with more term remaining, are also expected to be available for a certain price.

Rutherford’s only desire is to improve his team for this spring.

“I’m open to all options,” he said. “I’m OK with a rental if that’s what’s there. Sometimes it’s actually better if a guy is an unrestricted free agent at summer. My main thing is finding a player who is the proper fit. I don’t care as much about how many years we’ll have him for. Sure, you consider that. But I want to win right now, this season. The goal is to win now. We have identified guys out there who we think can help us.”

Agreed. The women's game was the only game I paid attention to for both nights and I thought it was actually pretty awesome. It was a little unvarnished compared to the NHL game. It reminded me a little of the 90's without the brutality and I enjoyed it.

The Athletic did a poll of player agents, and the results were pretty interesting:

https://theathletic.com/1581445/2020/02/04/the-nhl-agent-poll-agents-have-their-say-on-gms-gary-bettman-teams-on-no-trade-lists-and-more/

What Grade Would You Give Gary Bettman?

This ended up being a surprising exercise. The assumption was that every agent, given this opportunity, would tee off on the commissioner. Instead, he had plenty of strong grades and even respect.

I think this is pretty accurate:

If you’re asking me as the owner of the Boston Bruins, it’s an A. As a player agent, an F.

Stars-related:

Which GM Do You Find Most Reasonable To Deal With?

The wording here is important. The attempt wasn’t to find out which general managers an agent can rip off. Chances are, they weren’t going to answer that question. This was an attempt to find out which GMs were most willing to engage in conversation. To listen to the other side. To be, you know, reasonable.

“Jim Nill (Stars) … It’s not like he bends over backward and gives you (what you) want. He’s a pleasant, reasonable guy to deal with.”

“Jim Nill. But I love Julien BriseBois (Lighting), which really surprised me. Billy Guerin (Wild), so far has been awesome. But Jim Nill is a really good dude.”

"That’s a stupid question."

The top goal scorer on the Stars has 15 goals on the season.

Ovechkin has scored 14 goals over his last 7 games.

They have the talent to score. It's the team's shift from Lindyball to 98-99 style hockey after being bounced by the Blues in 2016. The team went from the promised fast, up-tempo, speedy transition game to what we have now. Trash the players all you want, but they didn't just forget how to score. It's the mentality instilled by the front office and beaten into them by the coaching staff. Montgomery was better at trying to balance defense versus offence, but Bowness is just terrible.

Monty coached the same way. He tried to implement an “up tempo” style of play for about fifteen minutes until he realized he wasn’t coaching youngsters and had to adapt to his roster. Which to his credit, he did.

This is the NHL.

Also, last night’s three on three gave us a glimpse of what is to come, just hanging onto the puck forever until an opportunity comes. Not as exciting, but probably more effective.
