CBC heads were saying Tippett was a possibility for Edmonton as well. Pretty sure that was after Holland was named GM. Todd Nelson does make sense for the Oil with his Holland connection, tho.

I don’t think Tip will leave Seattle

Bones was in charge of our awesome PK.
Take Nelson instead LOL.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

Bobrovsky put his Columbus condo up for sale.
Expected despite that nice little run, and now confirmed.

Ouch.

https://theathletic.com/966327/2019/05/14/nhl-offseason-outlook-what-to-expect-from-every-central-division-team/

Does GM David Poile, loath to do such things, buy out Turris? A trade would doubtless cost other assets and/or eating some of Turris’s salary. One longtime scout, executive and player who has known Poile for years said there is zero chance Poile simply sits back and hopes this turns itself around and that Poile will make at least one big move this offseason. While the team needs to shore up the middle, there is a more pressing problem, this scout said: the team seems to have lost its identity. “You know what they need? They need Shea Weber back, that’s exactly what they need,” the source said. “They’ve kind of fallen right off the face of the earth.”

Or they could still be making two first round picks every year if they had chosen not to match the Weber offer sheet to Philly.

I'm not going to look this up, but I think Nashville's W-L and postseason record has been a lot better since dumping Weber for Subban.

Also: Nill should offer-sheet Laine. Worst case scenario: Winnipeg matches, can't afford Trouba, and we snatch him up.

Edit: Ok, I looked it up. Nashville won three playoff series in 9 seasons with Weber, and 4 in the 3 years without him.

I think Subban is the better player and for sure will be the better player for longer. But Weber brings some intangibles, leadership and maybe rudder. But what is done is done. Preds could use some skilled forward help and they will be fine.

I think a problem with that is the 2020 first rounder is tied up in the Zucc trade until his contract situation is resolved one way or another.

If that wasn't a problem, if you really wanted to offer sheet someone, I'd look at Timo Meier. Sharks are going to have a lot of cap space, but they have a ton of folks they have to sign.

No way SJ lets Timo walk... not after this goal:

I agree. Extraordinarily unlikely. They just have a lot of important pieces to take care of:

Notable free agents: Joe Pavelski (UFA), Joe Thornton (UFA), Gustav Nyquist (UFA), Joonas Donskoi (UFA), Timo Meier (RFA), Micheal Haley (UFA), Kevin Labanc (RFA), Erik Karlsson (UFA), Joakim Ryan (RFA), Tim Heed (UFA)

Nyquist would be a good fit here, too. If they can't make it work with Zucarrello.

We can take a run at Karlsson two years too late like we did with Bishop.

If we get him now, perhaps he can lead the NHL is defenseman scoring for us.

Yes. Hell, sign him just to keep him from playing against us. Even if he scores zero goals, you're subtracting a hat trick against us every other time we play Winnipeg.
