@Bob. No ref was gonna call the Cogliano trip on Schenn to give a team a 5-3 at that point, even in a regular season game. A ref may have called the cross check on Maroon, but again, at that point in a playoff game, not likely. The reffing was very inconsistent in the game, we can all agree on that. That your Blues were the better team has nothing to do with inconsistent calls. Let’s hope they are better tonight.
Well said, I said all along the Stars deserved to lose, they did not play a good game and were lucky to even be in it, IMHO. However, the bottom line of that game from an officiating standpoint was that it was a brutal, terribly officiated game, some of the calls they made were ridiculous, others were "how do they not call that" types. Notice I did not specify a team, I thought it was bad all the way around. I have always hated the argument of "playoff hockey", I know refs don't want to decide the game, but a penalty in game one, should be a penalty in game 7 of the cup finals. I don't want ticky tack *poo poo* called, but I do want them to call the rules. And the disparity in the way one game is reffed to the next in terms or what is or isn't a penalty is what drives me insane. Just call it the same all the time and the players will adjust, if they don't, its on them. I know some of it is the human element and judgement, but often the difference in standards from game to game is way to much to attribute to just that.
