It’s the quality of goals that he’s letting in, not that he’s letting in goals. He’s mostly on, but when he’s off he’s off. It is what it is. This has Game 3 written all over it. Only right now he’s being outdueled by a rookie and not the reigning Vezina winner.

What's weird is BIshop has made other good saves, especially a couple of poke checks. It's like on both the goals he expected better shots and then the weak ones went in because he couldn't adjust.

The Tarasenko PP goal wasn’t soft. That’s a sniper that they let walk In from the line and pick a spot thru traffic.

Bishop is fine. Stop letting Tarasenko walk in like that.

Yeah, Bishop isn’t the problem on those two. You know who that big *frakker* is. Why are you letting him walk the *f-bomb* in like that?

Sure, but sometimes it resets the team to change the goalie.

We are getting scoring chances. They aren’t breathing easy over there. Bishop was the round 1 Conn Smythe favorite, and it wasn’t close. Let’s tap the brakes.

I just find it funny that the spot that he picked was the same 5-hole that the first shot went in on. And I’m not sure what goal you watched but there was no traffic. It was basically a low unscreened wrister from the point LOL.

I don’t disagree, but irrelevant to this game.
That’s some Lehtonen apologist logic. I’m not mad at Bish. Just able to call a spade a spade i.e. a soft goal a soft goal.

Miro's had a rough game.

Also, Stars aren't gonna score if they can't possess the puck and move up the ice. Terrible follow up to the powerplay goal.

See how important not letting in just one of those three potentially soft goals would have been ...

He’ll bounce back in Game 2 though.

Klingz and Miro with horrible games, Bishop was just NHL average, Radulov with three unforced turnovers in the final 31 seconds. We were chasing all game, Monty was severely outcoached (Berube put Tarasenko out against Polak every chance he got). We whiffed on four empty nets, by my count.

Still only lost by one goal. I think we'll actually be fine, and might earn a split on Saturday.

Yeah, I feel oddly confident after this game too. Everything went perfectly for them and perfectly wrong for us and it was still a one goal game.

Same. Bishop always bounces back the next game after giving up three, and getting a split on the road is what you hope/aim for anyways.

The longer we play them the more we can do what we do, which is take them into deeper waters and drown them.

Yeah, we had every chance and reason to at least be in OT in that game, if not win it, and we kinda played like *poo poo*. Home line change with a MF like Tarasenko is always a *goddess*. This team answered big last series when they got beat. I’m a fan of breaking that top line up in Game 2. Let Zuch feed The goal scorers. That’s why we bought him.

They need to get with the times and allow each game to be separately streamed for all to watch with no blackout restrictions. Cable is dying and will be totally eliminated. Probably within the next 10 years.

Would it have been any different on FiOS though? I don't think they carry the alternate NBCSN channel, do they?

I was right about the first goal at least...

“Yeah, puck is rolling, I don’t think he’s trying to go five-hole,” Bishop said. “He fans on it and it goes five-hole, sometimes when they are trying to shoot somewhere else and fans on it five-hole, that’s how it goes in. Kind of an unfortunate break, but it happens sometimes.”

It is really interesting how much professional goalies actually have a pretty good idea of where pucks are supposed to go. Everyone has heard the saying that for really good goalies "if they see it they will stop it." What many casual observers don't understand is the extent that successful goalies know who is taking the shot, what their tendencies are, read the puck coming off the stick, know where the puck is likely to go given the angle, backhand/forehand, reading the eyes of the shooter, etc. So when something does come in a bit off speed or is deflected, it can be really difficult to adjust to.

Not excusing the first goal on Bishop - even if it was off speed that should be stopped. But it does help to understand a little better how it happens to an elite goalie.
