Nichushkin in for Ritchie
Carrick in for Honka
Carrick in for Honka
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Big changes guys. This should look like a different team with those major moves.

As much as I am frustrated with Val, I dislike Ritchie more.
Carrick is better than Honka. Honka should be done at this point.

They just haven't been properly thrown under the bus by Lites.

Carrick blows, but I doubt he plays more than 6 minutes so it won't matter.

He doesn't blow as much as Honka. That's good enough for me.

It doesn't really matter. Neither one will show up in a box score. My guess is Monty is just hoping he can rotate them in with hopes that one of them actually steps up to play like a guy who wants to take the job.

To my untrained eye, Carrick turns the puck over less and is less tentative with his passing. But, I could be wrong.

Nichushkin is playing his 200th game tonight.
He has 23 goals. That's essentially one goal every 10 games or so.
Yikes.

His last goal happened on March 4, 2016. That was two years, ten months, and five days ago.
Since then, he's played in 63 NHL games (4 preseason, 49 regular season, and 10 playoff games) without a goal.

He had 51 points (27 goals) in 86 games in the KHL. Not exactly great there either.

No surprise that the only offensive chance so far came from the top line. Nice goal.

Two periods later, and this remains as true as when I posted it. This team needs forward help bad.

Don't tell Lites or T-Gags.

Janmark is having a bad game with the puck.

What are you talking about? Val was almost on the ice when the top line scored and would've almost assisted on the goal. Can you see how he's trending upward?

Looks like Tarasenko might be available.

Carrick isn’t right. Two back to back penalties in the first 10 minutes? He sat most of the rest. Poor Lindell was out there taking hell and this guy...

Lindell actually physically overpowered Tarasenko on a lot of those shifts behind the net. I wonder if Tarasenko sucks now because the 'roids are wearing off.

Nill needs to waive/trade Carrick. Bayreuther is far better.

He had shoulder surgery at the end of last season after dislocating it. Maybe he’s still not right.

Janmark has nobody to dish the puck to. He’s in alone against a D or two every time, then it goes along the wall. They need a speed guy to compliment each other.

You know who would have been super helpful? Pacioretty. If only he’d been available this summer.

Sure would be nice to see the Stars play a complete, dominant game. Great first period against a tired team playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Then having to hold on for dear life, managing only 2 shots on goal in the third. It is games like that which have to frustrate the hell out of Montgomery and the front office, despite the win.

It's not the sort of effort you think will win games against better teams. It sort of looks like doing the bare minimum to win.

This is why even if we make the playoffs I don't have a lot of hope. It's as though at some point you still need enough talent on your team to be able to really close out games.
